bolton has already announced he has evidence and also that he wants revenge on Trump.

Please post any evidence you have of this.

I’m happy to see your prognostication here on this thread ... because for the last three years you’ve been posting all kinds of speculation about President Trump that has turned out to be completely irrational bullsh!t.

The proof is in the pudding. McConnell has done little but stab POTUS in the back the past 3 years. Failed to repeal obamacare, failed to make permanent individual tax cuts, failed to fund the wall, ignores the ongoing coup, did not whip votes for DNI Ratcliffe or Trump’s fed picks, never recessed the Senate, supported the useless Sessions, etc., etc.

There is no Executive Privilege in the Trial Phase.

That is not true as far as I am aware. If you have evidence that says otherwise, please present it.

Yup, many here want to see this non-stop, three year charade continue up until Election Day. Wouldn’t it be nice to allow Trump to focus on his job, instead of having to defend himself 24/7 for another 11 months?

Trump needs to go for an instant acquittal.

In theory , if the majority agrees, why can’t 30 seconds be given to each side to debate then go vote..

democrats will scream but the republicans can point out if the Democrats wanted to be so unfair in the house then we can too

The DEMs call the bluffs of Trump/Cruz/et al over what they’ll present as witnesses in a Senate trial, and raise them additional witnesses. Seems everyone talking is convinced impeachment will pass the House.

Blah. The Republican Senators will hold the line against the Rats. Their phony baloney jobs depend on it.

We normals are not amused.

Murkowski, Romney, Collins,..... that is all they need

I wonder if the Supreme Court could be counted on to discard them as too general and lacking any crime.

i like the proposal that the Senate judge the impeachment charge based solely on the record established by the House: the House gets to present that record to the Senate, the President’s lawyers respond to that record, and then they vote ... no new witnesses, no new testimony, no new nothing ...

So did we skip the full vote in the House now, and simply "deem" that impeachment passed?

That's really good news for Pelosi, who wasn't sure she had all the votes she needed, and for those wavering dems in red districts. Now they can claim they "never voted to impeach" with a straight face.

If the full House never voted on it, does impeachment even exist? McConnell should demand a full vote with names recorded of every rep and their vote.

Dems and the media are trying to bluff this through...

Every article? Really?

Trolling? That’s an absurd statement and you know it. I called out faux “concern” without any factual basis to support it. The Democrats have zero leverage or power here. Crying that the sky is falling over and over and over again does nothing to advance conservative causes.

If you are so sure that it’s all over and your “concern” is valid, let’s put it up for a bet.

Let’s make it simple and for all the marbles.

If the Senate votes to remove President Trump from office, I’ll never post here again. If the Senate votes to acquit, you never post here again.

If your “concern” is real and valid, you shouldn’t have any problem taking that bet.

“so does the Senate have to call anymore witnesses? Do they have a vote for each witness?”

no. the Senate can hold this trial however they see fit, without reference to past impeachments, Federal trial rules or anything else ... a majority vote will determine ALL of the rules of whatever trial is held IN ADVANCE OF SAID TRIAL.

The only Constitutional requirement is that the Chief Justice presides over the trial, and it takes a 2/3 vote of the Senators to convict ...

There isn’t any evidence. I’m willing to bet no one who is “concerned” will take me up on my bet.

[Oh, that’s right.
I’d almost forgotten that a very bitter John Bolton is just chompin’ at the bit to go on record about his ‘perplexing’ experiences with President Trump.
Let’s get it done then John. Step forward with your big grocery bag full of Sour Grapes.]

Bolton is an old school realist who understands that there are broadly two groups of people - people who are mostly in agreement with you and people who are mostly in conflict with you. He might view Trump as someone who disagrees with him on some things, but it’s clear that Trump agrees with him on more things than the Democrats do. Bolton is against arms control agreements. He’s in favor of a bigger defense budget and a bigger nuclear force. Trump agrees and the Democrats oppose. No way Bolton is going to give the Democrats the ammo they want. In Cold War terms, Bolton may view Trump as a bastard, but Trump is Bolton’s bastard.

You make an outstanding point BTW, at some point, if the sky doesn’t fall after years of claiming that it’s falling, then the time must come when no one should believe the further “concern.”
