Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York proposed the structure for a “fair and honest’’ trial in a letter to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, an attempt to launch negotiations ahead of House voting this week that is all but certain to result in the president being impeached.

The dems get to present their evidence, not conduct a new investigation in the senate. But I think mcconnel will stab Trump in the back and bring bolton in to testify, bolton will hurt Trumps. Without direct evidence, this is the end of executive privilege. I hope that Trump and Barr fight this, but who know what the supreme court will do.

So while in the House, Republicans have to ask permission—and have it denied to call witnesses, in the Senate Dems get to call who they want?

So the bickering on process has begun. We can expect it to be Kavanaugh on steroids with the GOP Senate again tip toeing through the tulips and accommodating the Democrats.

Despite Republican control in the Senate, McConnell faces limits on his ability to steer the impeachment proceedings because the GOP holds a slim 53-47 majority. It takes 51 votes to approve most motions in the proceedings, which means the leader can only afford to lose two Republican senators and still pass his preferred options.

Some Republicans may feel pressure from Democrats to call additional witnesses or expand the proceedings, especially those up for re-election next year in swing states where voters are split in their views of Trump.

McConnell only faces self imposed limits. He is majority leader precisely because he is weak and gives the senate mavericks plenty of room to roam.

Trump still has the right to claim executive privilege. It would split the supreme court with roberts being the tie breaker on the dems side.

Is it an impeachment or just an inquiry? Democrats want you to think it’s the former because they are liars. Them and their cohorts in the media have such forked tongues that you can never tell exactly what they’re saying.

This really should simply be remanded forthwith to the House, with prejudice an an enumeration of the legal traducements it entails.

it is not over yet..in early January look for “sources” in the NYtimes and Washington Post to saying that Bolton has important info “damaging” to Trump..(likely Fake news)

This will give give Rino Senators enough to cross over and call these witnesses

So Schumer doesn’t want to prosecute the articles of impeachment that may be presented to the Senate from the House, he wants to conduct new investigations disguised as a trial?

Is it an impeachment or just an inquiry?

Once the house votes to impeach, Trump is impeached. The inquiry is over at that point. The dems want to re-investigate it in the senate and breach executive privilege. That should not be allowed to happen. Executive privilege should not be breached without direct evidence, which there is none in this case. But mcconnel will allow it, watch.
