"TASS news agency reported that the submarine, identified as B-380, later surfaced and is currently afloat."

Technically true, good photos here:

https://defpost.com/floating-dock-sinks-with-submarine-at-russias-sevastopol-naval-base/

TASS didn't mention that the sub refloated upside down, (must've hired CNN reporters...)

Back story:

The B-380 sub was commissioned in 1982. It was towed to the PD-16 dry dock in 1992 for overhaul and was there ever since.

What is startling is that when the skeleton crew left every night, there is no security in the entire shipyard at night. Check out this blogger that went on board (scroll to the last photo, hilarious):

Yup Ivan, conquer the world.....

The application of Occam’s Razor results in the conclusion that the lack of maintenance resulted in the old steel hull rusted through and the collapse from in rushing water resulted in sinking

” PD-16 commissioned in 1941”

LOL. What else do we need to know? It is a mystery what kept it afloat for that long.

Photos remind me of a another Russian sub base, Petropavlovsk. Entire city looks like a Mad Max Movie set.

First a dockside crane collapses on the Russians' only aircraft carrier in drydock, punching a massive hole in the flight deck.

Then the same carrier catches fire because of obsolete wiring that was being replaced.

Now a sub -- with its wet-dock -- sinks for unknown reasons.

Seems like the Russian navy needs some work.

Yep, that was in Kola Bay and it almost took their only carrier the Admiral Kuznetsov with it. That ship was saved from the icy waters, however, at least until day before yesterday when it caught fire. King Neptune is apparently displeased with that one.

Reminds me of that great Carl Reiner comedy “The Russians Are Coming’’. What a hoot that movie was.
