The Carter Page/Ukraine Lie That Kept On Lying for Mueller and the FBI
Realclear investigations.com ^ | 12/12/2019 | Paul Sperry

The FBI and Special Counsel Robert Mueller repeatedly kept alive a damning narrative that investigators knew to be false: namely, that a junior Trump campaign aide as a favor to the Kremlin had “gutted” an anti-Russia and pro-Ukraine plank in the Republican Party platform at the GOP’s 2016 convention.

Federal authorities used this claim to help secure spy warrants on the aide in question, Carter Page, suggesting to the court that he was “an agent of Russia” – even though investigators knew that Page was working for U.S., not Russian, intelligence, and that they had learned from witnesses, emails and other evidence that Page had no role in drafting the Ukraine platform plank.

The revelation is buried deep inside the Justice Department watchdog’s just-released report on FISA surveillance abuses. RealClearInvestigations fleshed out this unreported story with footnotes from the Mueller report and exclusive interviews with Trump campaign officials who worked on the convention platform.

Of all the Trump-Russia rumors, insinuations and falsehoods – from secret payments for shadowy hackers to videotaped prostitutes with active bladders to a clandestine rendezvous with Kremlin figures in Prague – the supposedly pro-Russia Ukraine platform alteration stands out; it seemed to offer early, public, concrete evidence of an actual bending of prospective U.S. policy to suit Moscow. The false narrative is also significant because it was initially pushed not by Democrats, but by associates of Republican Sen. John McCain and other so-called Never Trumpers. As a bipartisan red flag, it helped build momentum around a narrative of Trump treachery with, then as now, Ukraine playing a central role. It also shows how the Russia and Ukraine controversies were linked from the beginning by Trump’s foes.

The FISA abuse probe started March 28, 2018. 21 months later we get a report of massive malfeasance at the FBI.

Mueller investigated for 39 months and while he didn’t find anything bad about Trump, he didn’t find the FBI’s malfeasance either.

How could Mueller miss it?

To understand that we need to see the so-called Scope Memos from Rod Rosenstein.

I may be nuts, but I don’t see Horowitz as a hack now. After really reading his report and looking at his testimony, it seems to me that he is an honest person.

WOW, I didn’t think I would be saying that.

He made NO EXCUSES FOR COMEY’S, MCCABE’S, STROCK’S BEHAVIOR

I am thinking he was being very helpful, much to my surprise.

What I am still pizzed about, is the fact that that sneak Wray had to review Horowitz’ report before it was released.

I think we will begin to see that Horowitz did a good job.

Incidentally, I spelled Stroke’s name without the superfluous “z” because I just wanted to. I hate that “z” in the middle of his name for no earthly purpose.

Horowitz may be somewhat straight forward but not being able to find any intent/bias is totally hackish.

Here’s the way I read this intent thing.

He claims there was no provable “intent” AT THE BEGINNING OF THE INVESTIGATION.

As the investigation proceeded and more information arose, the emails between Lisa and Lover surfaced. At THAT point, there was actual words written that showed that THERE WAS BIAS.

Everyone seems to MISS that distinction.

No one on that committee stressed that. If I’m wrong, I apologize, but that’s the way I see it.

I think Horowitz looked absolutely disgusted and ashamed that he had to deliver the findings.

JMHO

Horowitz is a lawyer first. He deeply disliked the endless lawbreaking. He did a workmanlike job.

My takeaway is the government is too big. Each microcosm has its small job and its own acronyms. Normal humans neither think like them nor avoid getting straight to the point. Horowitz believes in his mission, but if Madison or Thomas Paine or Sam Adams wrote like him, we’d still be subjects of England.

If Mueller was honest, his investigation should have ended in days, not years.

Andrew Weissmann ran the investigation. He loaded the Mueller team with pro-Hillary staff in order to keep the lie and narrative going.

Weissmann leaked information to the press in order to damage Trump and keep him off-balance

All of this was staged and coordinated between the FBI and the DNC.

This is why Lindsey Graham wants a one-day Senate trial with no witnesses.

A full examination would absolutely destroy the legacy of his mentor John McCain, who was up to his eyeballs in spreading the false Steele dossier.
