Trump complains low-flow toilets are flush with problems

...Trump said Friday that his administration is looking into relaxing water-saving regulations for toilets, sinks and showers, saying consumers end up using even more water by flushing multiple times and trying to get clean with low water streams.

“People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times as opposed to once. They end up using more water,'' Trump said while talking with business owners about what he said are ‘’common sense'' steps to end overregulation. "The EPA is looking at that very strongly at my suggestion.''

He’s NOT right! Nobody flushes a toilet TEN times! OMG! How ridiculous!

Most flushes are for urine. ONE flush, even in a poor quality 1.5 gal. toilet, is all it takes.

I live in the country. I have a water well and a septic system. Why should the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT be telling me what toilet to use? I mean my water is FREE and I have my own private waste water treatment plant!

And guess what, so do all my neighbors! Actually, now that I think about it, that would be EVERYONE in my “town”. (3,601)

Get rid of the toilets that won’t flush, faucets that water won’t come out, corn gas that ruins small engines, gas cans that don’t work, diesel tractors that have to idle for a hour to burn soot so it will burn cleaner(WTF??), paper thin auto bodies that are totaled by a fender bender,...….

That would be enough to get Trump elected in a 50 state landslide.

Ever sit on a bowel with the sensor? Moving a little bit either way and get an unwanted flush. One time at an airport men’s room one toilet with such ‘smart sensor’ was in a constant state of flushing water. Malfunctioning sensor with no valve to turn it off. The janitor there was having to wait on the maintenance crew. Had to be like over 60 gallons a minute.

10 - 15 times? Classic Trump. :-)

There's a reason American cities of started stinking like those in Mexico and it’ is due too low-flow toilets. Solid waste like shit is being left in the pipes because there's not enough water in the weak, small flush to move it along. Cities have had to begin using work crews to flush sewers with fire hydrant water just to move the sewage along.

Liberalism is a mental disease.

Good Grief, why is he messing with this topic? There are a few other priorities he should spend his time on.

"Most low usage toilets work very well these days, and they don’t overflow and flood like the old ones did."

This has also been our experience.

During a main bath remodel several years ago, I replaced our original commode with a lower-end American Standard elevated seat, elongated bowl model. It empties everything with a single flush and has not required plunging a single time.

Last year, I replaced the unit in our half-bath with a Member's Mark (Sam's Club) elevated seat, elongated bowl toilet. This one has two pushbuttons, one for liquids and another for solid waste. It also works exceptionally well, rarely requires a second flush, and I'm happy to be finished with the overflows that happened fairly frequently with our older toilet.

I don't like being regulated into design changes by ECO leftists, and sympathize with those who have difficulty with the newer fixtures, but I've been very satisfied with ours.

Once in Ukraine I flushed an old Soviet toilet. I pulled the cord and the results were nothing short of remarkable. It was like I had pulled the lever on A Martin Baker rocket ejection seat. About 250 gallons of Dneiper river water rocketed through it in about 3 seconds. Actually frightened me because I thought maybe I would get sucked in.

The household used it the way we would use a sink disposal

He’s right. Most of us pay for our water, so why use so much to do something that could be done with a much shorter “high power” flush?

I have no objection to conservation. I have a low-flow sprinkler system that saves about 30% of the irrigation water and does a wonderful job. We have the technology, folks, and a lot of it is American, so let’s use it!

I’ve done that on occasion.

Typically it’s only 2-3 times.

Newer models flush better than old ones rushed out just in time for the regulations. But even they aren’t quite as good as the pre-regulation ones.

With the current toilets Obama wouldn't go down..

It is, perhaps, worth noting that he still hasn't gone away.

Most of the time the low flush works fine. Does everyone know that if you hold the flush handle down during the flush that you get an extra gallon for a difficult flush?
