(CNN)For the first time, Muhammad is one of the top 10 most popular baby names for boys in the United States, according to data from the parenting website BabyCenter.
Muhammad ranks at No. 10, up four spots from last year. The name has been climbing steadily on BabyCenter's rankings over the years and first entered the top 100 in 2013.
"Muslim families often choose Muhammad for firstborn sons to honor the prophet and bring blessings to the child," Linda Murray, BabyCenter's global editor in chief, said in a news release. "The name also has multiple spellings, and that helps a name get into the top 10."

We’re screwed.
I simply don’t believe it.
When Ahmed and Khalid join the Top 10, it will be too late.
Any parent using that name should be deported.
Where is your optimism? A target rich environment is a good time.
Personally, I would never trust anyone named Mohammed, regardless of how they spell it.
The name is also spelling in part because of the trend to give both boys one-of-a-kind names like d’zonvion and Brewski. I believe the phenomenon is pronounced in women bearing children out of wedlock.
To me, “Mohammad” is an identifier and epithet. Until proven otherwise.

It’s also a popular name for cats. I’m sitting in the veterinarian’s waiting room,down here in NC. Two good old boys at two different times, brought their cats in for a check up. Both cats are named Mohammed. There you go.
Name your children and grand children fine upstanding names like:
Charles Martel
Or Hammer Martel
Or Augusto Pinochet..
