It is possible that the democrats will impeach in the house and then not pass it on to the Senate. This is being considered by them. In there minds this would give them an edge in the elections because they could say that Trump was impeached. Yet it would spare them all from being exposed in the Senate where they can’t win anyways.

That's the rub right there. Nobody should be legitimizing this lawlessness, not even the Senate - especially the Senate. They should tell the House to get back to them when they have a full House vote on whether to even do it.
