I don’t know anyone who hunts turkeys who thinks they are stupid. They have incredible vision and if they had a deer’s nose I don’t think we would even know they existed.

The interesting thing about turkeys is how they as a species have adapted to humans. There was recently a media blitz about turkeys that have become a nuisance in New Jersey. They live in the same spaces as humans. That makes humans uncomfortable.

In my area, it seems the adaptation may have peaked. Turkeys are no longer present in the fringe suburban areas as they once were a few years ago. Since radical cat owners have caused the prohibition of unleashed dogs, Turkeys have no threats.

It can be argued that with the proliferation of deer and turkeys within human areas, the predator coyote has been attracted. Coyotes are a threat to turkeys, young deer and stray cats
