Major political party leaders in Britain participated in a debate on climate change, but two were noticeably missing -- and replaced.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the Conservative Party and leader of the Brexit Party Nigel Farage were not on the stage for Thursday night's Channel 4 debate.

Channel 4's editor, Ben de Pear, said the ice sculptures were a "visual metaphor" after the two declined invitations to attend.

"These two ice sculptures represented the emergency on planet earth, not in any human form but were a visual metaphor for the Conservative and Brexit parties after their leaders declined our repeated invitations to attend this vital climate debate," he said in a statement to ABC News.

Journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy said during the broadcast that the melting ice was a "reminder that ice caps are melting as politicians around the globe fail to cut greenhouse gas emissions in time to stop rising temperatures."

From what I hear, in the middle of the 'debate', everyone in the audience was told to surrender their car keys and place all of their money in a basket. It's being reported that the ice actually did stop melting once the event was over and every last drop of loot was confiscated.

We are suppose to get 6 to 12 inches of global warming on Sunday here in CT. I bet that little ice queen Gretal guaranteed we would have a harsh winter when she came over here preaching her nonsense.

“Channel 4’s editor, Ben de Pear, said the ice sculptures were a “visual metaphor” after the two declined invitations to attend.”

Sooooooo the idiots that put on this crap admits that it wasn’t a debate, but a contest to see who could adhere to their predetermined conclusions?

It’s too bad the ‘sculptures’ were not free FLOATING in a container of water.

Then the level of water could be observed NOT to change as they melted!

If ALL the ice; floating in the oceans of the North, were to melt; the total water level on earth might right 2-3 inches.

It’s the ice on LAND melting, that would cause the global oceans to raise.

Well actually floating ice wouldn’t change the ocean levels at all. Artic ice freezes and melts every year to no effect. If Greenland and Antarctica’s ice all melted, that would change the sea levels, but as they are both too cold to completely be ice free, melting away isn’t going to happen in any crisis mode. If we wanted to melt them, we have no way to do it. There isn’t enough man controlled energy to do it. So there’s no way SUVs and cow farts will do the job.

I wonder how much fossil fuel energy was used to create the two blocks of ice that were just a waste; instead of being used in a fine liquor beverage as ice should be?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/08/04/clint-eastwood-explains-and-regrets-his-speech-to-an-empty-chair/

about the 'chair' speech'...

He was worried that his speech would sound like those of everyone else endorsing Romney — “I’m hearing everyone say the same thing: ‘Oh, this guy’s a great guy.’ Great, he’s a great guy. I’ve got to say something more,” Eastwood said.

That’s when the Diamond ballad reached a chorus in which he sings, “And no one heard at all / Not even the chair.”

A light bulb lit up over Eastwood’s head.

He told Esquire:

And I’m thinking, That’s Obama. He doesn’t go to work. He doesn’t go down to Congress and make a deal. What the hell’s he doing sitting in the White House? If I were in that job, I’d get down there and make a deal. Sure, Congress are lazy bastards, but so what? You’re the top guy. You’re the president of the company. It’s your responsibility to make sure everybody does well.

So he decided to call out the president. Only the president wasn’t available, so he spoke to the chair instead.

These folks ignore the 2nd rule of thermodynamics.

These folks never opened a door between a cold and hot room, then noticed the strong draft of air movement until the two rooms reached the same temperature
