What Russians? We’re spending all those billions to protect Europe from the Soviet Union. Shoot, if it were only the Russians, who needs NATO?
I would rather Russia take over Europe than the Muslim hordes.
The gross domestic product of NATO nations are on a par with the United States. Those nations also produce aircraft and other defense products of extreme quality, including the nuclear weapons of France and the UK, oddly our designs but that is a different subject. They can well defend themselves. We must remain in NATO with our total nuclear might as this is the final deterrent. Europe must defend itself with conventional forces at their cost, not ours.
Post WWII Western Europe had been rather decimated by war. At this time it was totally necessary for the United States to take up the role of defense as Western Europe simply did not have the economy nor industrial capacity nor money to do this. That day is passed. It is time for them to defend themselves. If they will not do this, they are not worth defending.
Why in the hell do we fear Russia? It is a potent nuclear power. Its gross domestic product is just about the equal to Italy actually a bit less. Russia does not wish nuclear war with us nor do we. We are crushing them economically due to Trump’s sanctions and actions. Russia is an economic backwater. Oddly it should be quite the opposite. It is not. This is due to its internal corruption. If Russia ever becomes non corrupt it will be a potent economic force. It is not this today.
