Less Electricity Will Cost Californians More
Newsmax ^ | November 26, 2019 | By Paul F. deLespinasse

The costs of global warming continue to mount up.

Californians pay nearly the highest electricity prices in the continental United States, about twice as much per kilowatt-hour (kwh) as in nearby Oregon and Washington.

Nevertheless, California's prices are probably not high enough.

Some of the fires plaguing the drought-stricken state were caused by electrical lines downed by falling trees and by malfunctioning transformers. These fires have caused billions of dollars of damage to homes and other property.

The resulting lawsuits have bankrupted Pacific Gas and Electric (PGE).

Ultimately, California's electricity consumers will have to pay for what it costs to generate and transmit power safely and will do so in their electric bills. Since the current price of electricity in California, high as it already is, is insufficient to pay all of these costs, the price per kilowatt-hour will have to go up, probably a lot.

The price in California may soon equal or surpass the current rates in Hawaii ( 34 cents per kwh ) or in Germany (27 cents per kwh).

As the price of electricity goes up, it will motivate people to use less of it.

It will also encourage more people to install solar panels on their houses and businesses. These actions will reduce how much electricity PGE will need to pump through its lines, making it easier to operate them safely.

The coming price increases in California will not be pleasant.

Unreliable electricity would be worse.

More people will flee cali and destroy the next state. Texas is already suffering from transplants. Each state gets conquered from others who fled.

Utter, utter nonsense. I was surprised to read this drivel in Newsmax. Has it gone Deep State on us in the past year as well like Drudge?

And....

California does not generate enough electricity on it’s own, so it has to import electricity from other states.

As the price of electricity goes up, it will motivate people to use less of it.
My parents and many others fell for that scam during the 1973 oil embargo. Our local utility co., Orange and Rockland hired a PR flack, Linda Winikow, one of the 1st women to serve in the NY Senate who encouraged everyone to save on electric and gas usage. So we did, the thermostat in the house was turned down, my mom warned us in no uncertain terms to turn off the lights and TV when leaving a room, etc. Sure enough their next utility bill was lower. Before long the CEO of O&R announced that, guess what, the rates are going up because revenue dropped due to people CONSERVING ENERGY LIKE THEY WERE TOLD TO DO! A side note, the local feminists at one time were grooming Winikow to become the first female Gov of NY. Unfortunately for them she got in a nasty trick bag involving embezzlement and she ...silently...faded...away and lived out her yrs in obscurity in FL.

Business can’t afford the utility prices. So those that can will leave.

The geese are there because some Leftist treehugger will insist on feeding them. The chicks will learn that this is the new winter feeding ground and will keep returning, and sh!tting, forever.

Democrats from other states are the same. They come here, and sh!t. Some natural processes never change.

How can anyone use less? CA is a disaster. It should be annexed to Venezuela and then we’d be rid of it.
