Gallagher had already put in for retirement set for November 30. The Navy then pulled a nasty one on him with the Trident review on December 2.
Per 18 Nov. 2019:
Spencer was a paper pusher. He spent 5 years on active duty in the Marines when he was in his 20s and then spent the next 15 years on Wall Street, bouncing around through most of the large brokerage firms.
I hope he is replaced by a career Navy or Marine officer.

Go for it! I voted for Trump but I didn’t believe he was going to do what he said...I should have known better, I’m from NYC, where he accomplished a lot despite his divorces, the fact that he was kind of a rebel and not in with the in crowd, for some reason...but now I am totally convinced!
He sure did the right thing in this case, and handled it without subjecting the Admiral to a court martial...LOL!
If President Trump did not have 100% loyalty from the special forces types, he does now.

Gallagher wanted to retire. The navy tried to retire him at a lower pay grade and without his Seal status. Trump re instated his pay grade and allowed him to retire. The admiral(green) did NOT get what he wanted...maybe Trump will can him next if he opens his piehole again.

He can shove all his santimonious BS where the sun don’t shine. This isn’t about not following an unlawful order, this is about a difference of opinion over an internal Navy disciplinary procedure. No life or death, just a policy matter and the CINC is the decider.
Judging by how fast Trump had a name up to replace him, I’d guess Spencer has been on the bubble for some time. Good riddance.
