“May”? Why is that even a question? Other than some form of illegal, those ad slots should go to the highest bidder.

E*Trade set the low bar for stupid SB ads years ago with their Dancing Monkey ad (”well, we just wasted two million dollars, what are you doing with your money?”).

Because they’re still negotiating. It’s pretty complicated actually. Because each commercial break during the course of the game has a different value, peaking near the end of the first half. And also they try to avoid having competitors in the same break, you don’t do Bud and Coors back to back. And how big a slot do you want? And here are the current content rules from the NFL. It ain’t just throwing cash down.
