Americans beaten by Erdoğan guards fear Trump silence allows another attack

Americans beaten by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's guards after his last White House visit say they are concerned that President Trump's silence makes an attack more likely to happen again.

A coalition of anti-Erdoğan activists will return Wednesday afternoon to Sheridan Circle in Washington, where Erdoğan's men broke through a police line in May 2017 to kick, punch, and choke activists.

"There's some legitimate fear that a foreign leader is coming here with his security detail, and we don't know if it's safe," said Aram Hamparian, executive director of the Armenian National Committee of America, which has a National Park Service permit for Sheridan Circle.

"Jesus Christ, you know, it's outrageous. It's something I never could have imagined growing up — that a foreign power would feel such license," said Hamparian, who filmed the melee in 2017.

"It's something I never could have imagined growing up — that a foreign power would feel such license,"...

Why shouldn't the Turks feel free to rampage against U.S. citizens... After all, the U.S. government, itself, permits the communists/antifa to rampage and attack Americans almost every day...

Since the U.S. government, these days, feels it has such a license, why wouldn't the Turks feel the same way?

Hell no. I believe several of them were prosecuted last time.

They’ll only learn if a few of them are shipped home in a box.

Two Turkish-Americans pled guilty and were sentenced to one year. Charges were filed against 17 others--15 Turks and 2 Turkish-Canadians, but they were all allowed to leave the country and charges were subsequently dropped.

I tend to think Erdogan has sat on his guard this time around....And Trump made that a condition of his coming here.

I don’t believe for a second Erdogan, the self-proclaimed caliph of the Islamic World, would do that; it would signal weakness to the thugs he surrounds himself with.

No it wouldn’t. He’s already having alot of difficulty regarding his Nato membership...which he’s not finished using. .....Further all Islamists, including his guard, know that while in a foreign country you can ‘pretend’ you’re one thing while there and another in yur home country. Additionally his guard will always do what they are told........if they act up ,as they did last time, you can with certainty know Erdogan was behind it.

Hell no. I believe several of them were prosecuted last time.

"U.S. prosecutors have quietly dropped charges against 11 of the 15 members of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's security detail who were criminally indicted in an assault on protesters last year during a visit by Erdogan to Washington.

Criminal charges related to the incident against four of the bodyguards were dismissed last November while the indictment against the seven others was withdrawn February 14, the day before outgoing Secretary of State Rex TIllerson visited Turkey to meet with Erdogan in a bid to mend ties between the two NATO allies."
