Ex-Clinton strategist: Don’t rule out Hillary run, amidst Bloomberg’s entrance

There is still time for Hillary Clinton and Michael Bloomberg to enter the 2020 presidential race, as a field of weak candidates continues to fuel speculation of a dark horse savior, said former Clinton strategist Mark Penn on Sunday.

“There’s still a couple of days here,” he said on “Sunday Morning Futures.” “I don’t know whether [Clinton will] look at the Michael Bloomberg thing and say, ‘the field’s too crowded now. I missed my opportunity,’ or the opposite.

”‘Wow the field’s weak, I could come in. I could get 165,000 donors, I’m tied with [Joe] Biden in some of these early states…’ There’s still a political logic there for her,” Penn continued.

He also commented on Biden’s tenuous position as the party’s frontrunner and said other candidates have shifted too far to the left to be seen as viable options to defeat President Trump.

I think Hillary is hoping that all these Democrats knock each other out in the primaries, and that nobody has the nomination locked up on the 1st ballot. Then she can waltz in, not having run in the primaries, and get the nomination.

There’s no requirement that the eventual nominee needs to have run in the primaries.

Remember too, after the 1st ballot, if there’s no nominee, pledged delegates are released from their pledge to support a certain candidate.

And the “super delegates” who don’t vote on the 1st ballot, get to vote on the 2nd and any succeeding ballots. Many of them are thought to be supportive of Hillary.

I’ve seen this so many times, and it always seems so rehearsed, so choreographed, such as how the chick with the pony tail takes her position, and others move to their assigned spots. It’s enough to make you think that this sort of thing happened before, and they knew what to do when Hillary passes out.

Hillary. The woman who is married to an accused rapist and philanderer. The philanderer loves the young girl interns.

She will work behind the scenes to damage any candidate in the lead so that no one has enough delegates. Her health could not survive grueling primaries, freezing weather, and day to day grind. But she could possibly survive a short presidential campaign.

“I think Hillary is hoping that all these Democrats knock each other out in the primaries, and that nobody has the nomination locked up on the 1st ballot. Then she can waltz in, not having run in the primaries, and get the nomination.”

I’ve been saying the same for a long time here, although a bit more ‘colorful’ (and graphic). I think that’s also the reason why Skunk Cabbage chose to elevate Tulsi, so as to add yet another candidate to the top tier. As things stand now, none of the candidates has a prayer of reaching 50% on the first ballot...and, as you say, the nomination becomes WIDE OPEN at that point, and the superdelegates, who are silenced in the first round, now get to make their move.

I love how the guy comes from the front of the car and stands to block the view, looking around as if he’s working protection, instead of working visibility.

You have NAILED it.
She better think about a vice president that she could handle.

I almost want her to run...just to see her lose BIG again.
