Shows the difference between Dems and Reps, they prepare to fight, while Reps, shrug their shoulders and roll over and play dead even though they had both house of Congress and the Presidency.

There was a Democrat Speaker of the House for the first 2 years of Trumps Presidency.

He just had managed to get there with a R after his name.

“Shows the difference between Dems and Reps, they prepare to fight, while Reps, shrug their shoulders and roll over and play dead even though they had both house of Congress and the Presidency.”

We need to remind ourselves that Candidate Donald Trump was a complete outsider and took over the Republican Party by force. They didn’t want him, they wanted JEB.

So everything that happened from 2016-2018 was to be expected. Of course many of the Republicans would resent him. Of course many of them would join “the resistance”. I was not surprised by any of it.

President Trump’s challenge for the first term was to reshape the Republican Party and bring them in line - there was no possible way that was going to happen by 2018 - but in all fairness, those midterms could have been a lot worse, historically speaking.

He has managed a strong economy, made some bold moves with trade policy, kept faith with his conservative base, and stood up to the fake news and Democrat impeachment bullies. Nothing disastrous has happened under his watch. I believe most Republican lawmakers are convinced the Democrats’ corrupt impeachment farce will die in the Senate if not sooner and that the President will come out on top politically, and that he will easily be re-elected.

It took three years to get here, but Republican lawmakers finally understand on which side their bread is buttered.

The 2020 elections will be the first real test of whether President Trump has earned the respect (and fear) of GOP lawmakers. I think 2020 will be a total Trumpfest - they will eagerly embrace President Trump and his policy agendas, and the President will have huge coattails as a result.

Republicans will have the House back, pick up a few seats in the Senate, and the Democrats and their fake news will be on the defensive - fending off charges of corruption for their failed coup attempt.

As the saying goes [paraphrasing] : “If you are going to shoot the King, make sure you kill him.”

Well, they took their shots, and he’s not dead, so I’m guessing they are screwed.
