Midway . . . aims to celebrate heroism, sacrifice, determination and grit, and if you dont like that it really does not care . . . pays no attention to the notion that times have changed... We were fighting socialists in Europe who wanted to exterminate the Jews and totalitarians in Japan who attacked us by surprise. Of course today's totalitarian socialists are shocked that fighting back against their side is seen as unambiguously good. And, no, times have not changed other than the evil emanating from within the democrat party to a much greater degree. Back then, President FDR was on our side even though he was a democrat.

Back then, President FDR was on YOUR side even though he was a democrat. Not mine.

Just a reminder. 81 years ago tonight , November 9,1938, in response to the shooting of a German embassy official in Paris Nazis rampaged across Germany in what would become known as “Kristhallnact’’. Hundreds of Jewish synagogues, homes and business were ransacked and burned, 91 Jews were killed and thousands of Jewish men were thrown into concentration camps. It's been said that Kristhallnact was the night The Holocaust began. In reality The Holocaust began the moment Adolf Hitler opened his mouth and the German people shut theirs.

Yes, in most aspects except he was clearly anti-semetic.

President FDR was on our side even though he was a democrat. I recall reading a book about the Pacific War by some famous author with an amusing passage between Marines and Japanese.
Stuck in foxholes, some Marine shouts out: "Tojo Sucks!"
Japanese guy shouts back: "Rose'vere sucks!"
Some Republicam Marines shouts: "Damn Right He Does!"
Or so I remember the exchange went.

I’m no conspiracy theorist, but the Japanese attack wasn’t a surprise; once we started the oil embargo, war was inevitable. Japan wasn’t going to turn the clock back a few centuries.
It was no coincidence that oil was the focus of their initial thrust; the war with the US was to secure it (with a defensive ring in the Pacific).
