Well, if you go on Youtube you’ll find quite a few videos of people sawing through concrete with a sawzall. You just need the right carbide or diamond blade. It was known during the planning stages that the wall could be breached with power tools. The point of the wall isn’t to be impenetrable — that’s impossible for any wall — but to slow down the smugglers for long enough to allow detection and apprehension. I don’t see anything in the WaPo reporting that contradicts this. They’re just banking on people not really understanding the true function of the wall in order to score some gotcha points.
Don’t get me wrong-if someone is determined enough, strong enough and weak-minded enough (like removing grout on tile manually-you need a weak mind and a strong back) it can be done.
If someone goes out in the desert with a truck with a generator/gas powered device and wants to use something like that it can be done.
But as people who think about it can see, it is harder than just walking across an imaginary line in the sand.
