Tucker Carlson: Trump is a ‘truth elixir’ and Bill Kristol is a ‘Trotskyite’
Spectator ^ | Oct 18 2019 | Cockburn

Posted on 11/01/2019 10:37:43 PM PDT by rintintin

On Wednesday, Cockburn stopped by ‘Sovereignty or Submission: Restoring National Identity in the Spirit of Liberty’, hosted by conservative publications American Greatness and The New Criterion at a private club in Washington.

Cockburn heard a wide-ranging discussion about nation states and governance, featuring Spectator columnists Daniel McCarthy and Roger Kimball, as well as the Hoover Institution’s Victor Davis Hanson, the Heritage Foundation’s David Azerrad, American Greatness editor Chris Buskirk, National Review’s John O’Sullivan, and Hillsdale College and Claremont Institute fellow Michael Anton.

Over lunch, Tucker Carlson delivered a keynote speech on what he has learned since Trump’s election. The Fox News host observed that President Trump’s arrival to the White House has worked like a ‘truth elixir’: ‘people are sort of admitting what they really think in a way that they never did, especially here in Washington, which is a very buttoned-down city.’ To elaborate, Carlson said that a ‘lot of people here have drinking problems, but they’re all secret.’

Cockburn nearly choked on his chicken meal, worried Carlson was referring to yours truly. Thankfully, the Fox News host directed his attention to Bill Kristol.

Carlson argued that when Trump criticized the Iraq War on the campaign trail, ‘Bill Kristol and the rest of the left,’ referring to the former Weekly Standard editor as a ‘Trotskyite’, launched a full opposition against then-candidate Trump. ‘Within 20 minutes [Kristol] was trying to get Tom Cotton and finally settled on poor David French’, referencing the writer’s failed primary challenge against the future president.

According to Carlson, Trump’s presidency has affirmed that ‘the left’ is only concerned about political issues like the Iraq war: ‘In a world without God, politics is kind of all there is,’ adding later in his speech that ‘Ted Kennedy killed a girl and they had no problem defending him.’

Bill Kristol is going to be highly perturbed and vexed when he reads that statement from Tucker.

Bolshie Bill Kristol always looks like he’s in the middle of a difficult bowel movement.

Shameful. I wonder if WFB would have permitted that cover.

If you read Lee Smiths new book came out last week...The Plot book about the coup

It shows nevertrumpers were active participants and willing. To help the intelligence assets and others carry out this subversion

Especially Kristol and Rubin and Brooks and Boot

I get no pleasure pointing out the commonality there which is found throughout the book in the willing journalists and never Trumpers

Secular liberal Jews.....trotskyites is appropriate

Don’t blame me Mark Levin called them all out this week for this very fraternity this wee while reviewing the book

This book is a must read for any poster here who does more than just read titles of threads

And yes the bulk of deep state politicians and intelligence assets pushing this are not Jewish

Brennan is the engine

I think Podesta and Mook started it in late 2015

Which is why they harped on it immediately following trumps victory election nite

I recall that clearly...

It’s been years since a political book interested me enough to read it- too may these days are fluff and ghost written candy by Celebrity Conservatives- but I think I’ll get this Lee Smith book.

I once spent a lot of my money on books, good books by serious conservative writers of the sort who once wrote for National Review or Chronicles or the American Spectator, back when they were worth reading. Most of these writers were academics or established print journalists. What they weren’t was Celebrity Conservatives of the sort that we are plagued with today.

I was disappointed to see Tom Sowell and Ed Meese on that Case Against Trump cover- I think NR was taking advantage of their advanced age- but most of the rest I already knew to be trash. Andy McCarthy and Brent Bozell not so much, but the rest deserve all of the contempt that we want to heap upon them.

WFB is the one who turned his magazine over to that bunch of arrogant untalented fools who wrecked it.

What incidents do you have in mind?

That NR cover is misleading. Everything I have read from Dana Loesch has been pro-Trump.

As I recall, Levin was against Trump in the beginning. One of the reasons I grew to like Levin so much is that he slowly came around after seeing the things Trump was doing once elected. Now he is one of the more powerful defenders of Trump, night after night. Not blindly so, I mean he’ll still call him out if he sees him doing or saying something he disagrees with or doesn’t like.

I just don’t understand Republicans that still choose to attack Trump. He’s the Only POTUS that has actually fought the good fight and has fought to keep his campaign promises like he actually meant them.

If Reagan was a great President, Trump is Mt. Rushmore worthy.
