Sordid Ruse Is All That’s Left Of Impeachment
The Sun ^ | 10/31/19 | Conrad Black

Posted on 10/31/2019 7:31:06 PM PDT by gasport

You may read it here first: This sordid, contemptible impeachment ruse is finally disintegrating. It was another fraud, and I predict that this time the polls will move clearly in the president’s favor. There are limits to how often his enemies can get the public and the world to the edges of their chairs with their fantastic accusations.

The Economist, a long-respected magazine in earlier times, told us a year ago that the Trump presidency was hanging on the thread of Michael Cohen’s testimony. Most of the American press gave the public to understand for two years that there was a high chance that he would be thrown out once the Mueller investigation established his “treasonous” links to the Russians.

President Trump appalls many reasonable people by some of his antics and utterances, but his supporters are rock-solid at only slightly less than half the country, and enough to have got him elected. The vitriolic antagonism of about 90% of the press, though, and the fear and loathing of the political class, which he assaulted in its entirety, have sustained an artificial levitation of morbid expectation that he will be overthrown and removed.

Conrad Black, as usual, offers an articulate summary of today’s events.

/farther/ should be /further/.

Boy is that great! Menkin-ish prose that sure sums things up nicely.

It was a tragic and pointless exercise. Now comes the pain.

The only question is...will it work? We’ll know in about 370 days.

The whole country needs to read this. What a great written description of this moment in history. I am encouraged for this great country that is so hated by the enemies within. May God help and bless us.

I was about to slurp up that very sentence and comment on it but saw yours first. Yes ... a very nice sentence both in construction and meaning.

You can post a collection of these things. Were you the one who created the original "Pajama Boy in Flames" PhotoShopped image, and then the "Mueller in Flames" modification? LMAO.

If President Trump has a super power it is two fold: he somehow makes his enemies automatically self-reveal their truth, you know, what they really are regardless of what they are saying.

And then they self-destruct, usually unexpectedly by a “hoist with their own petard”, while we watch, eat pop corn and chew bubble gum.

Lots of Win! with President Trump and I really like that about him. Winning is fun!

Excellent analysis. Like Black in this piece, Rush today posited that we have reached “peak impeachment” with the House vote today.

I pray they are right.

I wonder what will be the next “impeachable offense?” Is laughing at libtards an impeachable offense? 😁👍

Well written.

I don’t talk politics with anyone that I don’t know for certain is at least somewhat conservative. So, I have no clue as to what the rank & file Democrat voters think about this illegal coup attempt. Based on my BIL and his wife, I question that any significant percentage of them are aware of anything that it not spoon fed to them by CNN, MSNBC et al.

After all, we’re talking about people who believe(d) Trump raised their taxes because CNN said so. My BIL’s (idiot) wife is a retired FL teacher (from NY) with a masters and she was (maybe still is) convinced Trump’s cuts were increases. Her husband explained it to her, but my experience with her is that within a week or two she reverts back. Any persuasion to facts is usually temporary.

They added that if trump stops any person from testifying or refuses any documents, the president forfeits the right for his lawyers to be in the proceedings. This is gonna get ugly!!!!!

I don't even remember who Michael Cohen was. The parade of losers the MSM-Democrats have trotted out to take their shot at PDJT has been unbelievable.

Good article by Conrad. Great man. He was doing pro-family work back in his days with the National Post.

On Jeb whining when Liz Cheney questioned patriotism of “whistleblowers”...:

Replying to
@JebBush
Heck, Jeb....we believe Liz is right and we question your Patriotism.....
You validate our questioning of you by backing seditious traitors who won’t testify to protect them from charges of treason being brought up - any bets if they “commit suicide” in the near future?
