I'm not sure if either of these quotes are actually true but if they are they're very revealing.

1) It's been claimed that Jesse Jackson once said (or wrote) something along the lines of "when I'm walking down a deserted street at night and hear footsteps behind me I'm relieved if I look back and see a white guy".

2) It's also been claimed that Jesse Jackson once said to a largely (or entirely) black audience something like "it's not the KKK we need to fear,it's the BBB...the big black brother"
