Former secretary of defense Jim Mattis told aides he would rather 'swallow acid' than allow Trump to throw a $50million 'Victory Parade', and said the president's summit with Putin was a display of the White House seeking 'instant gratification', a new book reveals.
Mattis, who was known as 'Mad Dog' during his career in the military, resigned in December 2018 following Trump's decision to withdraw US troops from Syria.
The defense chief's former speechwriter Guy Snodgrass has detailed his clashes with the president in new book, Holding The Line: Inside Trump's Pentagon With Secretary Mattis, obtained by DailyMail.com ahead of its publication next week.
At one point Mattis was frank with a group of reporters about Trump telling them: 'I'm not trying to put lipstick on a pig for you,' retired Navy Cmdr. Guy Snodgrass writes.

Let’s see....let’s put Mattis’ list of SIGNIFICANT accomplishments over decades up against Trump’s over 2 3/4 years WHILE FACING MASSIVE DEEP STATE RESISTANCE. There is absolutely NO COMPARISON - Trump wins MASSIVELY.
This is to not denigrate Mattis’ decades of honorable service but he had the opportunity to fully participate in Trump’s patriotic revolution and he lacked the necessary vision and wisdom to do so.

I’m starting to believe that Donald Trump is the only one in Washington who isn’t profiting off the never ending wars.
I'm not making any of that up. Mattis is a deep state fraud posing as a Marine.
I will admit I was one of them. But that was in the 'Age of Innocence', when I like many others did not fully understand the Swamp/Deep State/DC Establishment. We have come a long way since then.

Interesting how the reporter goes to great lengths to imply this is Mattis’s book or at minimum a book condoned by Mattis... when it is not, and is just a gossip book by someone trying to capitalize on someone else’s fame.
Mattis does have a book coming that actually slams Obama for ignoring Iranian terror plot in the US in order to get the Iran deal but this isn’t it.

I also think it wasn’t necessary and I would rather spend the money on me.
This guy Snodgrass is obviously a low life a$$hole officer.
To a degree, this is Mattis’ fault, we usually pick our aides based on qualities we admire in them. This shows Mattis’ was a poor judge of character and displayed copious amounts of disrespectful behavior in front of his staff.

The reason is the media and liberal pukes in Congress that force the military to fight with both hands behind them!
The military should do NOTHING but “kill people and break things”, full stop!
Once Congress comes to terms with the purpose of a military perhaps they can learn to use it sparingly as intended.
