ANALYSIS/OPINION:
A seemingly unrelated criminal case in Washington has reopened a popular Trump-Russia guessing game: Who is Joseph Mifsud?
The FBI says the vanishing professor is a Russian spy. Trump backers, citing Mr. Mifsud’s extensive Western intelligence contacts, suspect he’s an FBI, CIA or MI6 plant.
The Washington Times examined Mr. Mifsud’s extensive resume and frequent travels, revealing a skilled networker far more wedded to the West than the East.
In May 2017, 10 months into the FBI Russia conspiracy probe, Mr. Mifsud spoke in Riyadh at a high-powered terrorism conference. On his panel was counterterrorism expert Michael Hurley, who led CIA officers in Afghanistan in 2001 and served as senior counsel on the 9/11 Commission. Former Defense Secretary Ashton Carter also spoke.
Mr. Mifsud’s importance is uncontested. His hearsay conversation with a Trump campaign adviser in London prompted the FBI to start the investigation in July 2016. Special counsel Robert Mueller’s report cast Mr. Mifsud as a London-based academic who frequently talks to sinister Russians. Former FBI Director James B. Comey calls the balding rumpled European a Moscow asset.
Yet photos and news clips, such as those from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, show him hobnobbing with NATO military personnel, retired American and British intelligence officers, French officials at the Elysee Palace and State Department diplomats on Capitol Hill.

You have to wonder if Mifsud’s magically appearing phones were not provided by Mifsud himself, as part of a deal.
Mifsud is a CIA or other US agency asset. He is one of the faculty at a facility in Italy used for training of State Department and CIA employees. As someone else noted, if it turned out that Mifsud really was a Russian asset it would be the biggest counter intelligence failure of all time since he has been training CIA staff for years.
There's a lot of that going around.
Think Vatican asset...

1. This article is one of the more revealing and damning news-pieces I’ve seen.
2. Few liberals would be capable of comprehending it.

Joe DiGenova said the other day on the Howie Carr Show (Boston...plus NewsMax TV) that Mifsud’s phones could prove to be very interesting.
Mifsud doesn’t exist. It was the persona of a professional con artist who ran fake educational institutions and conned gullible East European students out of their money. He went underground and is now operating with a new identity.
Liberals will never hear the name Mifsud unless something happens to have Trump tweet it many, many times. Liberals are shielded from any facts that don’t fit their narrative by the propaganda press that they so readily consume.

Knights of Malta at least; but they’ve long been tied to MI6 and CIA as well. Mifsud seems to show up where anything promoting Brexit, Italian sovereignty, or U.S. sovereignty against the EU was at stake.
