My guess would be that on the one hand, most young people are “normal” and are simply having less sex because we live in an age when human interactions are difficult (SJW, PC, Social media distractions).
And on the other hand, some percentage of young people use Internet apps for quick hookups. These casual get togethers spread disease among a subset of society which gets a lot of STD cases. And, yes, homosexuals are heavily represented in that particular subset.
I think you are on to something. I’ll add a perspective as well, using tick bites.
I get bitten by several ticks every year. No big deal. But I live in KY where the odds of a tick giving me lyme disease are very remote. But if I lived in the northeast, I would want to avoid being bitten even once at all costs. The likelyhood of a tick giving me lyme disease there is MUCH more likely, by a couple of orders of magnitude.
So the analogy is having sex in the 60’s was like getting bit by a tick in KY, and having sex today is like getting bit by a tick in the Northeast.
I’m thinking it’s gonorrhea of the throat.
Gah.
Yes, less sex but likely more partners and little to no real connection to those partners.
People who would meet a complete stranger out of the blue for sex- who would think both might be more likely to have some disease or another?
Gee that is a real puzzle for sure.
