Bolton wanted White House lawyers alerted to Ukrainian efforts, called it 'drug deal,' witness tells Congress

Former national security adviser John Bolton was so disturbed by the efforts to get the Ukrainians to investigate President Donald Trump’s political opponents that he called it a “drug deal,” former White House official Fiona Hill reportedly told Congress on Monday.
Hill, the former top Europe expert in Trump’s White House, testified that Bolton told her he wanted no part of the effort that involved acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, a person in the room for Hill’s testimony told NBC News. Bolton also was said to have referred to Rudy Giuliani as a "hand grenade."
Giuliani has acknowledged in recent interviews that he had asked a Ukrainian prosecutor for information about former Vice President Joe Biden.
The New York Times first reported details of Hill's testimony Monday night.
Trump fired Bolton in September.
Hill testified that Bolton told her to report the situation to the top lawyer at the National Security Council, John Eisenberg, according to the person in the room for Hill’s testimony during the closed-door hearing.
Hill told lawmakers she considered what was happening to be a clear counterintelligence risk to the United States, the person said.
Giuliani said that he was disappointed to learn about Bolton's reported comments.
"I always liked and respected John," the president's personal attorney said after hearing about the testimony. "I’m very disappointed that his bitterness drives him to attack a friend falsely and in a very personal way. It’s really ironic that John Bolton is calling anyone else a hand grenade. When John is described by many as an atomic bomb."
Disagree....Think Hill is and also think she’s a damn liar.
Bottom line is...
Bolton is a symptom of a hopelessly corrupted Swamp Culture that taints everything it comes in contact with.
He has no doubt learned over years working inside the Beltway that the way to “get things done” is to leak/manipulate/blackmail/backstab.
In this he is no different than all the rest.
On 1/21/2021 Trump needs to CLEAN HOUSE and fire as MANY of these people as possible. Those who absolutely MUST be replaced should come from as far outside the Beltway/government as possible.

Kennedy school of government, Fiona Hill has a resume that should have utterly prevented her from a White House job.
Bolton brought her in from CFR. Bolton came from that McMasterbator era. McMaster came from GOPe and Pence submarining Flynn.
We have had about 40% of what a Trump administration should have been. About 60% is literally run by Bush family and Obama straphangers.
Are people on here really taking this leaked testimony seriously? I’m not a huge fan of Bolton either, but the stuff that was leaked doesn’t make any sense. As a journalist, I’m immediately struck by how irrelevant the comments are and how they sound completely cherrypicked. For instance, saying that the Ukraine discussions were like “a drug deal” provokes a negative response but doesn’t really give us any information at all. If this is all Bolton said, then he didn’t go down on Trump at all. The same is true of referring to Giulliani as “a hand grenade.” This reference doesn’t even have much of a negative connotation because Giuliani IS a hand grenade (as is Trump). This story was so weak it occurred to me the REPUBLICANS could have leaked it to show that the testimony was silly and completely irrelevant. I figure that Bolton and Trump couldn’t have possibly liked each other, but this particular report doesn’t expose Bolton as an enemy or hater of Trump.
Bolton ripped Trump right after he left. The story is likely an accurate representation of what Bolton said. Bolton was a spy and saboteur inside the Trump administration.
The proof... Bolton has not and will not appear anywhere forcefully denying this crap and supporting Trump.
He is a lying backstabbing swamp creature as treacherous as can be imagined. He is one of those “we resist from inside” types as was in the famous editorial in the NYT.
So the “White House Official” in the whistle-leaker report was none other than John Bolton?
Time for Trump to fire everyone at NSC and CIA.
You might consider giving the Democrats a permanent majority as a good thing, Graham does, I don’t.

He was fired. His boss said I no longer need your services, give me your resignation. That is “fired”.
Maybe when you get mugged at gunpoint you prefer to call it a charitable donation to the poor, but you was robbed sport.

I think it's reasoned to take this report to task, but it does make you wonder what lengths Bolton did go to, to trash Trump's call with the Ukraine's leadership.
I have always thought of him as a straight shooter, but Trump did seem to feel the need to dump him.
Can't tell exactly what is going on for sure.
