I don’t anticipate consciousness or independence from an AI anytime soon.
But I think machines will be processing massive data and determining what data to pursue for further processing. That’s a kind of AI. A machine could “see” a solution that humans would not see and might not understand. But people might find it profitable to just go and do what the machine says. That’s not Skynet, but it’s still a little scary.
This is not about real machine thinking.
This is about searching the internet for specific patterns and identifying content, who created it and reads it.
This is a key part of “Net Neutrality” and they are already in the testing phase.
Right now they have parts automatically searching the internet for content they find “objectionable”.
The problem is much of it is incorrect so they need people to identify errors and feed back changes to design.
Right now they claim a failure rate of 50-70% but they have teams all over the USA working on it.
Most are hiding under the label of “non-profit” so no one looks at them and they get tax exempt funding.
I ran into a small part of the group last summer and decided to go underground and gather more information.
