Lately, there has been much attention paid to the topic of climate change, and what we are doing about it. We can start by taking a stand to save Jackson Park.

There are locations directly across the street on Stony Island. There are properties owned by the University of Chicago near Washington Park. These properties are outside of the parks themselves, and would both enlarge as well as bring businesses into the community.
Parks like Jackson and Washington provide much-needed contact with nature and many benefits to the public, including trees, which are the lungs of a city.

In Chicago there is an elaborate Baha'i shrine on the far north side near the lake. The Obama Worship Center should be located there in keeping with American tradition. Clustering exotic religions in the same neighborhoods just makes sense.

There is a Community Coop Garden near the Pullman neighborhood, right off the Dan Ryan expressway. This land was part of the property of the now defunct Sherwin-Williams paint factory. There is a significant amount of land there (including land on both sides of 115th street), and putting his library there would:
1. Force toxic clean-up of the Sherwin Williams site.
2. Anchor attempts to revitalize the Roseland neighborhood, and Pullman.
3. Could lead to attempts to actually clean up and expand Lake Calumet.
4. Would avoid taking over park land from the city or state.
AND:
5. If done properly, would place a safe library complex in an area that has been inundated with gang violence and shootings. It would thus send a message that the area wasn't being abandoned, and that neighborhoods could be recovered from the gangs.
