Exclusive: Military leader of Syrian Kurds tells US 'you are leaving us to be slaughtered'

The commander of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces told a senior US diplomat, "You are leaving us to be slaughtered," demanding to know whether the US is going to do anything to protect Syrian Kurds as Turkey continues its military operation targeting America's Kurdish allies in Syria.

"You have given up on us. You are leaving us to be slaughtered," Gen. Mazloum Kobani Abdi told the Deputy Special Envoy to the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, William Roebuck, in a meeting Thursday, according to an internal US government readout that has been obtained exclusively by CNN.

"You are not willing to protect the people, but you do not want another force to come and protect us. You have sold us. This is immoral," Mazloum added.

He insisted the US either help stop the Turkish attack or allow the Syrian Democratic Forces to strike a deal with the Assad regime in Damascus and their Russian backers, allowing Russian warplanes to enforce a no-fly zone over northeast Syria, thereby denying Turkey the ability to carry out airstrikes. The US does not want the Kurds turning to the Russians, administration officials say.

"I need to know if you are capable of protecting my people, of stopping these bombs falling on us or not. I need to know, because if you're not, I need to make a deal with Russia and the regime now and invite their planes to protect this region," Mazloum said.

Turkey launched its long-threatened incursion into Syria after President Donald Trump ordered a small contingent of about 50 US troops to be pulled back from the border area amid a belief that a Turkish incursion was imminent. Before that, as a confidence building measure with Turkey, the US convinced Kurds to dismantle their defensive fortifications along the border

“You are leaving us to be slaughtered.”

Cry baby Kurd. Get lost, loser. No, I am not going to tell you to grow up, because you can’t. Killing Christians for fun is the Kurdish sport and the Kurdish endzone is in hell. How do I really feel about the Kurds? Well, just tired of their fake “we are poor” acts.

Yes indeed, your comment “Bomb them, Turkey” stands as evidence of your ignorance and your cruelty.

Your new good buddies the Turks have been subverting America’s and the West’s interests for several decades. And what have the Syrian Kurds done to America or you in particular? Did they do something for you to jubilantly cheer on the Turks to bomb them. You embarrass yourself and make me ashamed that you are a fellow FReeper. I find your attitude and your heartlessness to be REPUGNANT,

It was about 24 US guys along with some Kurds and artillery and air-support that fended off an attack by over 500 Russian mercenaries and Syrian fighters (supported by 27 vehicles including tanks). 16 more good guys (Marines) joined the battle mid-way. I think they ended up saying 200 bad guys killed and as many wounded. No good guys were hurt during the 4-hour battle.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/battle-syria-us-russian-mercenaries-commandos-islamic-state-a8370781.html

excerpt:

For the first 15 minutes, US military officials called their Russian counterparts and urged them to stop the attack. When that failed, US troops fired warning shots at a group of vehicles and a howitzer.

Still the troops advanced.

US warplanes arrived in waves, including Reaper drones, F-22 stealth fighter jets, F-15E Strike Fighters, B-52 bombers, AC-130 gunships and AH-64 Apache helicopters. For the next three hours, US officials said, scores of strikes pummeled enemy troops, tanks and other vehicles. Marine rocket artillery was fired from the ground.

Hey House, you ever read any of Mark Twain? He is reported to have said that is not what you don't know that harms you, it is what you know that ain't so.

In your case, what you feel has no connection to logic. Let me drop some cooky crumbs and we'll see if you can follow the logic that proves CM correct: Saudis are Moslem, Syrians are Moslem, Palestinians are Moslem... Oh, and Kurds are Moslem.

What conclusion do you get from this fact? Moslems fight each other, have been doing it for centuries, and if you are not fighting amongst themselves they will fight you. Let them fight. You are usually more of a reasonable person, I'm surprised you walked the plank on this issue.

Around 20,000 Kurds took part in protests across Germany against the Turkish military operation against Kurdish units in Syria, German media reported.....over 10,000 people joined on Saturday the rally in the city of Cologne, some 4,000 in Frankfurt, some 3,000 in Hamburg and Hannover each. Smaller demonstrations took place in Bremen, Berlin, and Saarbruecken.

Tired of using our soldiers to defend Muslims, it seems like that’s all we’ve been doing lately: Kuwait/Saudi Arabia, Kosovo, Iraq, Syria, etc.

Sorry but I will NEVER be comfortable with someone cheering on and REVELING in the bombing of people who have made common cause with us for years and died by the thousands in that effort. It’s fundamentally INDECENT but I suspect all the breadcrumbs in the world won’t lead you to that understanding.

Hopefully to have an established safe zone .......obviously Erdogan isn’t about a ‘safe’ zone, he never was...we all knew this when he (uninvited) insisted he be a part of the collition against ISIS......... We shall see if Europe or any countries actually step up to the plate and drive him back to the agreed on safe zone.

Schwarzkopf gave them a nice piece of Iraq they didn’t really deserve. Now they still want a piece of Turkey, a piece of Syria (the latter never treated them badly). Tomorrow they’d want pieces of Armenia and Iran.
Someone needs to put end to it.

That's far more dangerous then what most would imagine when it comes to Syria.....as we've already seen for years now.

Erdogan has been very busy for several years establishing refugee camps he uses as political/revenue leverage on other members of Nato countries to keep the refugees in Turkey or he'll cut them loose to further invade Europe...he's played that card several times over the course of the war to line his pockets....... When/IF these refugees return to Syria he's lost his leverage and cash flow from Europe and the UN...

He's going after the Kurds beyond the established miles of the safe zone now becuase He planned this once he forced his way into the coalition with empty promises he would not go into Syria....and everyone of the parties operating in the Syrian war knew this would very likely happen....which he why he wasn't invited to begin with. Erdogan is playing everyone now.....and has been all along. He has not lost his vision of being the Great Sultan of the Middle East.....He covets Syria as no other outside perhaps Iran.

Turkey is screwed in this sense. Most refugees are fake Syrians just like in case of Europe, some from Africa and Afghanistan are making about 5% or more of Turkish population by now. They are roaming the cities in great numbers, begging at every street corner, occupy vacant buildings, steal, rape and to other stuff they are known for.
