CAIRO (REUTERS) - ARAB League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Saturday led Arab foreign ministers in lambasting Turkey's military operation in northeast Syria as an "invasion of an Arab state's land and an aggression on its sovereignty".
Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Alhakim, president of the current Arab League session, also condemned Turkey's offensive into Syria during an emergency meeting of the body, called by Egypt.
The offensive "will exacerbate humanitarian crises, increase the suffering of the Syrian people, and strengthen the ability of terrorists to reorganize their remnants," Alhakim said.
Alhakim and Lebanon's Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil called on the League to reinstate Syria's membership in the body.
On Tuesday, Turkey began an air and ground offensive into northeastern Syria against Kurdish militia, opening a new front in the eight-year-old Syrian civil war which has raised the prospect of a new humanitarian disaster.
Turkey had been poised to enter northeast Syria since President Donald Trump ordered U.S. troops, who have been fighting with Kurdish-led forces against Islamic State, to pull out.
The UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash also condemned the Turkish offensive.
"We call for the exit of Turkey and its forces, as well as all foreign forces that have violated this Arab country - and to push for a successful political solution," Gargash said.

Uhh Kurds aren’t Arabs. So I guess this means if Turks withdraw theArabs will take their place.

Turkey is remembered as the Ottoman Empire by the Arab League. This is getting interesting.
While I will confess to not looking very hard, I am at a loss to understand what Turkey’s motivation is for their incursion into Syria.

None. It is said to be a humanitarian mission. Safe zone for refugees and all such BS.
Imagine ISIS on our border firing mortars at our security forces, conducting terror ops, wiping out villages and creating 3 million refugees, claiming territorial rights to a new nation just ISIS in a chunk of the SW.
Welcome to the PKK. Not the most gallant Kurds.
Then you know why Turkey wants a 20 mile sanitized border strip and a plan to repatriate refugees.

I know that Turkey regards the pkk branch of the Kurdish people as being terrorists. I don’t understand if that is a true truth, or if it is a cover story for Turkey’s long-standing ethnic hatred of the Kurds.
Those several hundred kurdish forces are PKK. Apparently they had a 3 year contract paid by the US to help fight ISIS. While acting as mercenaries we equipped them and basically turned a blind eye as they attempted to carve out a piece of Syrian ground for a new Kurdistan. Time ran out they were not successful Assad has won the civil war and given Turkey permission to enter Syria, clean out theKurds and establish a buffer zone along the border so millions of refugees can come home. Turkey is anxious to get rid of all the refugees.
So the kurds already have a fairly autonomous province in N Iraq. They all need togo there.
Israel’s military is not a match for the Turkish but still very formidable. Arabs are screwing around Israel a lot.
