That is correct he is a Pentecostal. In my church we have a large Ethiopian and Eritrean Christian congregation or sub congregation. And one of our pastors is Ethiopia. We have prayed for this prime minister a couple times in our church as a congregation and he is doing a wonderful thing. The two subpopulations in Ethiopia have been shooting each other for years and years however at our church they sit together side by side in the pews. I would submit that the Nobel voters did not realize that he was a Christian and maybe thought he was a Muslim or assumed it since they probably are bigots and racists and stereotype vs. This one must have slipped by them. As a last bit of editorialization their food is wonderful.
I have to disagree strongly with you on this.
In the late 1970s, Ethiopia went Marxist under Soviet and Cuban military “advisers”.
After a dozen or so, they shook this off which led to a religious revival among the Orthodox, Coptic Ethiopian Church and the people. At the same time, their Red Sea state, Eretria, which was Muslim, rebelled.
Eventually, the Eretria’s won their freedom, but have used terrorism against the Ethiopians ever since. Ahmed is finally bringing that to an end.
The country still holds land below the Central Massif (the traditional Coptic Ethiopian highlands) that have a Muslim population, but that is a regional religion. The Muslims are in no way making any headway in the Coptic areas. As far as proselytizing by the sword, that was happening with Eretria, and hence the now (lasting?) peace.
All of this has actually strengthened the Coptic Church. More church growers as a percentage of total population as long as they kept records.

And that’s my point. After the standard bearer of the Lion of Judah was deposed in 1974, the country fell apart, the rest is a tale of turmoil. Peace? Perhaps, but given the area and the volatility of mussulmen, it may not last the month.

Yes, the Muslims are killing, fighting, chopping off heads (as they always have with EVERY religion they encounter), but this has not stopped Ethiopian Christians. They’ve been resisting since 650AD; nor will the fail, unlike ALL the other Christian churches in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Ethiopians have remained steadfast. There’s no comparison.

I was only talking about Ethiopia and Christianity, as the OP said a Muslim won the Nobel Peace Prize, on the mistaken believe the Ethiopian President was a Muslim.

I don’t disagree but do believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior. Beyond that lies God’s plan. What He does in regards to the Catholic Church and Islam is His plan, not mine.
I do believe Jesus when He said the Gates of Hell will not prevail against St Peter’s Church (WHATEVER that turns out to be), so, while we are in trouble with this imposter (in my humble opinion) named Francis, we’ve always had Hell against us. I say this as a Catholic, while I acknowledge that Catholics in Christendom are only a part of the world’s Christians. To an extent, I disavow my Church’s older teaching that non-Catholic Christians are damned. They decidedly are not. I believe in the redemption of all who call Jesus Messiah.
I also do believe in the End Times, as God has shown us, where there will be a Great Falling Away. IMHO, I see this as already starting.
We’re also told that Antichrist will behead Christians, and that is the Muslim way in particular, as prophesied 600 years BEFORE Muhammad, so you well may be right.
