Turkish Forces Launch Military Attack Against Kurds At Syrian Border

Turkish forces began crossing the Syrian border on Wednesday, launching an operation in Kurdish-dominated areas of the country's north, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced... Airstrikes have reportedly hit in or near Kobane... to the west of where U.S. troops are located.

The official adds that they believe the offensive will both spread and intensify overnight into Thursday, likely encompassing the entire border.

Trump said that Turkey has promised to protect civilians and religious minorities, but his statement did not specifically mention the Kurds. And he said Turkey has also promised to hold the line on ISIS.

"Turkey is now responsible for ensuring all ISIS fighters being held captive remain in prison and that ISIS does not reconstitute in any way, shape or form," Trump stated.

Just before Turkey launched its attack, there were reports of ISIS attacks against Kurdish forces in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa, which was previously the de facto capital of ISIS' so-called caliphate.

The Turkish military is working with the Syrian National Army, Erdogan said, adding that they are targeting Kurdish fighters as well as ISIS extremists...

A U.S. military official in Syria tells Bowman that the Turkish airstrikes are "more expansive than shaping a limited incursion."

The U.S. is tracking people who are being displaced from the Syrian cities of Ras al-Ayn, Tal Abyad, Qamishli and Ain Issa, the official says, reflecting a span of some 140 miles along the north and northeastern border...

U.S. forces in this area of Syria have assisted Kurdish allies with keeping ISIS fighters detained. And there are concerns about what will happen to those ISIS fighters now that the U.S. is stepping back.

"The Kurdish forces have always been clear that their number one concern is not ISIS but is protecting their territory from Turkey,"

So we are siding with the Turks over the Kurds that protected and provided shelter for Syrian Christians? Yikes.

Trump may very well get impeached for his call with Erdogan.

Which upends Trumps argument that this is about saving 8 trillion dollars.

The Kurds have lived in Kurdistan, and various regions of Iran, Turkey, Syria, etc. for a very long time without having the U.S. protect them. Obama sent the troops there to Syria to begin with. It’s time for those troops to come home.

I’m not sure what that has to do with my reply to your previous post, but I agree.

The plan drawn up is to divide much of Syria into areas of responsibility of those in the region. Why is everyone so surprised.

Funny, I didn’t hear you whining when the Kurds were helping our forces in Iraq and Syria.

Did I miss it?

LOL! I’m old, and was just rambling, since those, like Grahamnesty, who oppose our troop withdrawal are whining about the Kurds being left unprotected. I’d like to ask Miss Lindsey, what the Kurds did for protection before Obama sent troops over there. Was there a vacuum back then? And who cares? Graham says: “If [Trump] follows through with this, it’d be the biggest mistake of his presidency.” What the hell is he talking about. Trump ran on bringing the troops home. Back in April of 2018 he publicly said he wanted to withdraw our troops from Syria. Now he’s following through. I wish Grahamnesty would shut up, and stick to holding hearings on Democrat criminals who are trying to undermine this President every day, and turn our country into a socialist $hit-hole. The last thing President Trump needs is a-holes from his own party undermining him, but sadly, it happens far too often.

It's still his name. They've threatened to remove it in the past over the Muslim ban and what not but haven't as yet. Shoot missiles into Istanbul and even if you don't hit the hotel I think we can all assume it won't be "Trump Towers" for long.

>>>A lot of good British forces, which included Indian troops, Anzac and French troops died fighting the Turks in WWI. I hope Turkey takes it in the shorts

Sure, but it’s not like the Kurds were helping us with the invasion of Normandy.

I don’t give a flying Klingon crap anymore...

It is like the neighbors right houses down are fighting and I am expected to take a side and put myself at risk for stupid dumb ridiculous squabbles that they have been having for over 1200 years....

Sorry, but not sorry..

I DON’T GIVE A SHIT ANYMORE!!!!!

After 911 we were worked into a frenzy because some inbred Saudi ass holes were able to fly some planes into buildings killing 3,000 citizens, fine....

But did we nuke Mecca or Riyadh Saudi Arabia???

No, we fought some retarded backwards goat jumpers that the slimy sons of their brothers sisters excreted fund with their opec oil money...

Not only that but we invited more and more of these backwards creatures to our country where they spit on our freedoms and only appreciate them as a means to their Islamic conquest via spawning more of their ILK here while suckling on our taxpayers....

I’m sick of this shit... My patience after nearly 20 years is done worn the hell out...

I DON’T CARE ANY MORE!!!!

QUARAN-TINE THE WHOLE GOD FORSAKEN SAND PIT THAT IS THE MIDDLE EAST AND LET THEM KILL EACH OTHER, THEIR MADNESS IS A VIRUS AND WE SHOULD NOT GIVE IT MORE HOSTS OR VICTIMS.

I DON’T CARE THAT JESUS MANAGED TO SCRAPE HIMSELF OUT OF THAT DAMMNED PIT... HE LIVES IN HEAVEN NOW... HE LEFT 2,000 OF HIS DADDY’S FORSAKEN YEARS AGO....

WHY DIDN’T WE TAKE A CLUE FROM HIM YET????

LEAVE!!! NEVER LOOK BACK, ONLY SEND BACK THOSE WHO CAME FROM THERE IN THE LAST GENERATION!!!!

I DON’T CARE ANYMORE!!!

GET OUT, STAY OUT!!!

I agree with your posted rant, GG. We should just let the Muslims destroy each other in the Mid-East and stay completely out of the fighting.

That’s because I didn’t do enough research to know that Kurds are just like Us... US..... Some of them are a bunch of commie socialist. I don’t support communism or socialism. When I was in Mosul I supported them Kurds like crazy because we were fighting the same enemy. Now I’m home. I hope the good God loving Kurds beat the PPK /YPG.
