Did the daughter ask for it to be inserted? If so - the school probably isn’t liable here (as the state law probably says that’s all they need is the teen’s consent.) now maybe they can get the nurse on implanting it wrong.

There must be more to this story. Yes, the mother (no father?) is right to be irate, but I suspect the 16-year-old daughter was offered the contraceptive by the school nurse and said yes. She certainly would have had to offer the nurse her arm and watch as the little cylinder was inserted; like ear-piercing and tattooing, it couldn’t have been done without her cooperation. She knew what was going on and never told her mom.

Maryland’s health code states, “A minor has the same capacity as an adult to consent to treatment for or advice about contraception other than sterilization.” Minors are also able to consent to treatment for or advice about drug abuse, alcoholism, venereal disease, and pregnancy, as well as to consent to physical examination and treatment of injuries from — or to obtain evidence from — an alleged rape or sexual offense.

I doubt it. The courts have thus far sided with schools being able to distribute various contraceptives without speaking to parents. IUD's, implants, pills, morning after pills, condoms. Pretty much whatever the kids ask for.

Even if she home schooled, her daughter could still go to any health clinic and access the same services. Parents no longer have rights over their child's access to contraceptives or abortion.

Maybe, just maybe, with a second term, Trump can shift the judiciary enough to reel in some of the insane laws we live under.

When my sister was 16 (long time ago) she got birth control pills from PP causing bad side effects. My parents had no idea what was wrong with her.

They were furious when they found out.
