That's called SEDITION and punishable by death; the highest crime that can be committed against the U.S.

I was shocked to learn that sedition is not a death penalty crime:

US Code 18:

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

Treason is punishable by the death penalty. The thing that sets treason and sedition apart is “Oath of Allegiance”.

Schiff and others have sworn an oath of allegiance to the United States. If they are found guilty of conspiring against the United States or aiding and abetting its enemies in a violent action against it, then they can be sentenced to death.Even if they should be convicted of treason, a death penalty is not mandatory. Punishment ‘up to death’ is permitted.

If Schiff and others taking the oath can be charged with treason, they can still be charged with sedition because sedition has a lesser burden to prove. So if any of them beats a treason charge, they can still be sent to prison for a long, long time on sedition.

People such as say Michael Moore who have never taken an oath of allegiance can be charged with sedition if they are caught say organizing violent protests against the United states. But they can’t be charged with treason. That’s just an example.

People such as George Soros can be charged with treason because he is a naturalized American citizen. All naturalized citizens must take an oath of allegiance to the United States. Again, this is just an example.

People often confuse treason and sedition. Thanks for bringing it up as it helps people to understand better the differences.

There are also other charges for conspiracy, subversion, etc. It the current crop of radical democrats can’t be convicted of treason or sedition, there are still other serious charges they can be convicted of. But it takes a really good team of prosecutors to get them nailed because unfortunately these people are equipped with snaky lawyers that know how to twist the law or choose judges to get their clients off.
