WASHINGTON—House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she is directing an impeachment inquiry into President Trump following reports that the president withheld aid to Ukraine while he was pressing the country to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son.

“Today, I’m announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry,” Mrs. Pelosi said in the Capitol, in front of several American flags. “The action taken to date by the president appears to violate the constitution.”...

Only thing she did is to advertise and announce what the democrats have been doing for many months now. Nothing new, other than trying to make it officially known what the democrats have been up to.

Meant to placate their base, who voted in the democrats who promised impeachment, no matter what the cause, real or imagined or fabricated.

She may have the votes in the House but there are not enough votes in the Senate. Right?

“Is there ANYTHING real here?”

It is pretty obvious that Biden’s son really got millions corruptly from the Ukraine, and then Vice President Biden threatened to pull a billion US dollars away from the Ukraine, if they did not immediately fire the prosecutor investigating his son’s corrupt deal (which they did, within hours).

Obvious real corruption by Democrats.

Pelosi is saying that it is impeachable for Trump to ask the Ukraine to investigate that, because it would benefit him politically.

SMH

And romney is a sure vote against Trump if it gets that far.

There’s 2 or 3 other flakes I think also.

I read here that they just need a simple senate majority to keep him from running again.

Incredible.

Thanks

There was an argument between Nadler and Jim Jordan on the Judiciary committee in the last week. Nadler invited a contracted lawyer to ask questions of Trump’s 2016 campaign lawyer Corey Lewandowski.

Allowing a non-employee to question was a violation of standing house rules, including the rules that Nadler had just gotten revised by the house last week.

Nadler kept saying it was standard practice in impeachment inquiries. And Jordan kept saying this wasn’t an impeachment inquiry.

I suspect that Pelosi’s announcement especially since Trump has already approved a transcript release is in part to quell that debate.

I suspect Pelosi knows this is a bad move for Democrats, and unlike previous impeachments they aren’t even submitting the start of the inquiry to a house vote. Maybe she just got tired of it.

They don’t have anything impeachable. And they won’t get anything from this inquiry. And any impeachment vote is going to fail just like the others.

Impressive that they can do that with no crime or real evidence. Maybe they think that Harry Potter is real and will cast a spell to save them from looking like the partisan idiots they are.

But but.....Nadler said he was doing an official inquiry.

An Official inquiry requires a House Vote.

It's a ploy to get documents and issue subpoenas.

WOULD it be okay if the President would have witheld aid if it was corruption that was uncovered that involved a Republican Senator or a Republican Congress person. I mean if there is corruption, shouldn’t it be investigated whatevery party, and even if the person has begun a campaign. It will be hard to prove that the President was motivated by personal vengance, when it was Rudy Gulianti the lawyer who was trying to absolve his client for misdeeds they still think he committed. WE ARE AT A CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS.

First they have to get 218 Democrat votes in the House, and that’s not nearly a foregone conclusion.

Even if they manage that, 67 votes to convict in the Senate. In other words, it’s DOA there.

They’re probably looking at this as a way to get the tax returns, or perhaps to distract the American people from any upcoming revelations about Biden and other Democrat corruption.

Republicans are the stupid party.

That is why Trump kicked all of their rear ends in the primary in 2016.

They only show courage when they are defending their own corrupt deals.
