I thought so too, but am not sure. First of all, the other gang members all have names that sound homegrown.
Secondly, Boris's two other names are from parts of Africa far away from Somalia. Likuwa is a name common in Namibia (formerly Southwest Africa), and Lusumbo is a place name in Dem. Rep. of the Congo (formerly Zaire, formerly Belgian Congo). It could be that he comes from immigrant parents from different places in Africa. Or it could be he just had a mother who wanted to come up with a creative African-sounding name.
