Wow. It was only at $20,000 a couple of hours ago and now it’s nearly up to $100,000. They will probably need it for all the bills that sweet little thing will have for her care.

That depends on proximity.

He (now-dead perp) “was driving and shooting”.

That kind of leaves out the obvious, that once the perp shot and fled in the vehicle, that the cops were likely driving and shooting also. After all, this occurred in West Texas, draw your own modern-day frontier conclusion.

Look up the video from a Las Vegas Metro cop from a year ago who shot through his own windshield while rolling at high speed down a neighborhood street to execute a murder SUSPECT who wasn’t actively shooting at him. Officials said “he wasn’t trained for that”, but apparently was not sanctioned for the reckless endangerment of others or denial of due process or civil rights of the suspect.

It just defies common sense that the perp would target random cars after the initial gunfire, the rage was directly toward law enforcement. Why waste ammo on random people if you are the perp with a animus to LE (proved with the initial incident)? Driving at a high rate of speed, are you set up to reload to deliver all of that fire?

I would wager that the vast majority of the tragic injuries and deaths were random stray fire, and strictly from the numbers, most of that fire came from LE. Not making value judgement on the fire-while-driving tactic, just stating what I consider to be the logical situation.

Having the perp responsible for every round fired perpetuates the desired narrative of uncontrolled use of guns. It will be surprising if any injuries or deaths from LE fire are identified as such.

There’s ballistics.

Why the Lone Ranger and Tonto should have headed him off at the pass, while Chuck Norris spin kicked him in the face.

Ballistic analysis if dead and wounded is a given, publicity of the results of that analysis is not such much obvious.

How many places did you hear that 2 of the 9 killed in the recent Dayton shootings were struck by police fire? (There’s that science of ballistics!)The single (local) headline I saw on this subject was so convoluted it pretty well obscured what actually happened regarding friendly LE fire.

I’m in no way arguing that deadly force and heavy LE fire isn’t necessary in a localized situation like Dayton, but mobile fire rolling at high speed is a HUGE risk of collateral and unnecessary death and injury.

That Las Vegas LE dude was firing at the “person being investigated” with both hands while at a high rate of speeding, leaving no hands on the wheel. Now THAT’S “safe” for anyone near that, flying lead rounds be damned.

There was an Orange County, CA incident from May of this year where some trigger happy LE fired 76 shots at a fleeing (by vehicle) “suspect”. 9 hits, 67 rounds that went somewhere else in general traffic.

At least the local Orange County DA got it right on that one by calling the action out as reckless, and firing at least one of the cowboy shooters.

Regarding the Tonto sarcasm, there is 99.8% chance the LE (with driver skill training)has a higher performance vehicle than the perp (100% when perp is driving a US Mail van). PIT him, run him down, run him off the road, wait till he crashes or runs out of gas, use techniques that LE is trained on. Raining fire upon the moving vehicle from half a dozen pursuit vehicles is unnecessary risky for the unfortunately-located innocent.

And the media could be honest on all impacts of the response, whatever they may be.

If any of the friendly fire victims were black, the media would probably say it was racism so there’d be a BLM rally.

Honesty from the media? I heard of that. I think they were striving for it from shortly after Lincoln was shot until FDR died of a stroke. Ever since Dewey beat Truman, however, it’s been downhill.

But I wasn’t being sarcastic about Tonto. What’s needed are Texas Rangers, with or without masks and faithful sidekicks. Serious lawmen who pursues fleeing perps with their heads, not their Glocks.

All I can say is that I hope you’re wrong. It will take a long time to process all the crime scenes, though. Lots of real estate was involved.

From reports, it seems he may be known to the cops. Either way, there’s more to this than him running than just failure to signal a left turn. He was obviously well armed. I’m wondering how he managed to get the mail truck (or mail car which so many are in that area).

There are witnesses who described him pointing the gun and firing at random cars.

I have recently seen such reports, it is certainly possible. Shooter’s logic may have been this may help his flight, create distraction or traffic hazards for his pursuers.

Although a witness sight of a gun out of the window of a moving target is hardly clear what the intended target is/was.

I was basing my posts on the facts of reports of multiple shooters (there WERE multiple sources of fire!) and the recent episodes (released to the net on lapel LE video) of real incidences of LE thinking it is a good idea to fire at moving targets from moving targets on public roads.

Time will help the transparency of what really happened, I hope.

The one report of the woman who said he had the ‘big gun’ pointed at her made me pause. She said she honked her horn and found a way to escape. If he wanted her dead, he would have fired when it was pointing at her. She didn’t escape. She was lucky. I won’t say God protected her - that pisses me off when people say that. ‘Why did God not protect the others?’ It was luck and only the shooter knew why he didn’t fire at her.

Don’t feel like you are the only one this dude, out of the clear blue sky, with no provocation, decided to attack. I was just reviewing his over the top comments to some of the members of this forum. He seems to have a penchant for losing his mind and asserting self righteousness and sanctimony.
