Pitcher Tyler Skaggs had fentanyl, oxycodone in his system when he died, autopsy shows

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs died of a deadly combination of alcohol and drugs, an autopsy conducted by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner shows.

Skaggs, 27, was found dead July 1 in a Southlake hotel while the Angels were in town to play the Texas Rangers.

The autopsy and toxicology report released Friday show Skaggs had a combination of fentanyl, Oxycodone and Oxymorphone in his system.

I don’t get it. Life is plenty fine without this stuff. This guy had a big bright future ahead of him.

I have a few beers a year. I don’t need that either, but it’s not going to put my lights out.

I’ve even considered stopping drinking.

These things are not essential to a happy life.

There are so many healthy things to make you happy he will never experience, now.

I'm guessing that he got hooked on Oxy due to previous injuries. I used to take it for pain, and then it was easy to take the left-over pills when something was a little sore but I really wanted to sleep without waking up. I still have a bottle somewhere just in case my knee starts to act up. Although last year (?) when I took a pill it seemed to mess up my head more than help with the pain, so I haven't taken any since.

I think the fenteynol is a contaminant in some drugs - added (unbeknownst to the user) to spice up the effects.
