Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) refused to budge on her controversial support for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation last year, and now the consequences of that decision may be coming home to roost.

In an interview with Politico published Monday, the senator acknowledged that her 2020 reelection bid will inevitably be affected by her decision to vote for Kavanaugh after Christine Blasey Ford accused him of sexually assaulting her when they were in high school, but Collins stood behind that choice.

“Have I lost some votes because of my decision to support Justice Kavanaugh? Yes, I have. And I’m sad about that because I explained in great depth my decision-making,” she said before adding that there is still “an appreciation in Maine for someone who looks at the facts of an issue, votes with integrity and independence.”

RE: Susan Collins ‘Sad’ That Support For Brett Kavanaugh Has Cost Her Votes

Question: Did anybody investigate the votes SHE GAINED as a result of her stand?

I’m no fan of Collins, but I sure hope she’s not primaried. It would weaken her and we need the seat in the Senate.

If she had voiced her support firm and early, probably wouldn’t be an issue. She put herself under the media pressure by waffling.

Gray Beaver should take note.

There is more to being in office than being a one issue woman

Well Collins has nothing to fear from him. Hopefully a challenger with a better chance will jump in.

Christine Blasey Ford and Anita Hill would be unknown but for Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas.

That's a fair point.

I agree.....The truth about Kavanaugh’s innocence was known early...Collins played the female card as long as she could along with the other females. Time to go girl!!

I would hope that Senator Collins has been saddened by the damage done to Mrs. Kavanaugh and her daughters.

In the summer of 1692, 20* innocent people were put to death in Salem, Massachusetts for proceedings quite comparable to the Kavanaugh hearings.

Any who voted as Collins did ought to be proud of themselves for doing the right thing, in spite of any backlash from idiot constituents.

She slimed a good man. Kavanaugh shows you how the deep state and their media will totally fabricate a story to destroy someone’s reputation, and that everyone else will jump on board. The only thing that saved Kavanaugh was longtime colleague was Lindsay Graham, who knew the allegations were all BS. If Graham hadn’t supported Kavanaugh he would have eventually been sacrificed for expediency, and his legal career and personal reputation would have been ruined forever, all for a pack of lies that were made up out of whole cloth.

It’s a frightening country we live in.

Every vote you ever cast as an elected representative costs you some votes with somebody.

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

A rather prominent Democrat said that.

I was thinking the same thing-—the lady is a full blown Rino! Other than a few votes here and there, primary her out and get someone that’s actually a conservative-—heck, I’ll take an old fashion Republican that’s not a progressive.
