Big Brother is watching, and it’s a bunch of pasty-faced nerds.

We used to do this in the South about 50 years ago.

The rating system was a little cruder then since it only took skin color into account.

It was variously called “segregation”, “Jim Crow”, “separate but equal” but the intent was the same: a system of discrimination and exclusion based on perceived traits.

Last I checked, the Courts and the Congress had outlawed all that.

In the U.S. a negative “social credit” score will be a badge of honor. This ain’t China. :)

There was an episode of “Black Mirror” that covered this pretty well.

No. Only when applied to other than white people. White people are not protected due to past history of victimizer status. Remember the all black graduation ceremonies held at racially diverse regular colleges last year, and the all black student meetings which bar whites? Black only scholarships. Black only clubs. A-Okay as the astronauts used to declare.

Question: why do leftist ideas like these get fast tracked and shot through to being used right away but rightist ideas like "voter ID and one citizen one vote elections" take years and years and court battles to possibly hope to gain an inch? Turtle speed for our side.

Oh! Black Mirror! My friend’s daughter and her friend were telling me about a show after I described to them the Chinese social credit system but I couldn’t remember the name. But Black Mirror seems like the name of the show. Is it on Netflix or Amazon Prime? I really wanted to watch it after they suggested I’d probably like it.

It’s the very first episode of “Black Mirror”. It might still be on Netflix. Haven’t been there since homo and big mike obama took Netflix over.

Nosedive (Black Mirror)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“Nosedive” is the first episode in the third series of the British science fiction anthology series Black Mirror.

Plot
Society uses a technology where, through eye implants and mobile devices, everyone shares their daily activities and rates their interactions with others on a one-to-five star scale, which affects that person’s overall rating. One’s current rating can be seen by others and has significant influence on one’s socioeconomic status.

Lacie Pound (Bryce Dallas Howard) currently has a 4.2 rating, seeking to reach 4.5 for a discount on a luxury apartment; however, despite her attempts to be an outgoing and pleasant socialite, her rating seems to have plateaued. She lives with her brother Ryan (James Norton), who is not interested in ratings. Lacie talks to a consultant who suggests gaining favour from very highly-rated people, as interactions with them can have large impacts on one’s rating. Lacie uploads a photograph of Mr. Rags, a teddy bear that she and her childhood friend Naomi (Alice Eve) had made together. Naomi, who is currently rated at 4.8, rates the photo five stars and calls Lacie, saying that she is engaged. Lacie agrees to deliver a speech as the maid of honour, hoping it will boost her rating to above 4.5. Lacie then commits on the luxury apartment.

On the day of her flight, Lacie gets into a disagreement with Ryan, missing her ride, and accidentally causes a highly-rated passerby to spill her coffee. The two rate her negatively, dropping her rating below 4.2. At the airport, her flight is cancelled and she cannot buy a seat with her current rating. Lacie causes a scene, where security intervenes and subtracts a full point for a period of 24 hours, as well as doubling the effect of subsequent negative ratings against her. Because of her low rating, Lacie can only rent an older car to drive to the wedding, causing her to miss Naomi’s rehearsal dinner. She cannot recharge the car when it runs out of power, and is forced to hitchhike; she rides with Susan (Cherry Jones), a truck driver rated below a 2.0. Susan tells Lacie that she used to care about her rating, once a 4.6, until her late husband was passed over for vital cancer treatment for another person with only a tenth of a point above his rating; she says she feels much freer without obsessing over ratings.

The next day, while Lacie is en route to the wedding via an RV she tricked her way onto, Naomi tells her to not come, as her severely reduced rating will negatively impact her own ratings. Enraged, Lacie manages to get to the site of the wedding and sneak in during the celebratory dinner. She grabs the microphone and starts giving the speech she had written but starts becoming dangerously upset, at one point grabbing a knife and threatening to behead Mr. Rags. The guests rate Lacie negatively, so her rating drops to below one star. Security comes and arrests Lacie. She is taken to prison, and the technology supporting the rating system is removed from her eyes. She and the man in the cell opposite hers (Sope Dirisu), also stripped of the rating hardware, realise they can now speak without worrying about being rated, and gleefully hurl insults at each other, relishing their newfound freedom.

Last I checked, the Courts and Congress haven’t lifted as finger during the age of Big Tech robber barons. MS was slapped down for way, way less than Facebook and Google have already gotten away with.

No worries, it will be fair. I understand they are using neutral parties to apply score adjustments. They include the Southern Poverty Law Center, Politifact, Snopes, MoveOn.org, the Clinton Foundation and the New York Times to ensure your Socialist Credit Score reflects our New American Values. Your browsing of FreeRepublic.com has been noted, and your score will be adjusted accordingly.
