President Trump, who sparked controversy with this comments about purchasing Greenland, at one point joked about trading Puerto Rico for the Danish territory, a former White House official told The New York Times.

Trump joked about trading the American territory for Greenland last year, according to the former official, who reportedly overheard the president.

Trump has frequently sparred with Puerto Rican politicians, calling them "corrupt." Trump has repeatedly made the incorrect claim the island received $92 billion in disaster relief for Hurricane Maria, and Puerto Rican officials have criticized the president for not doing more in the aftermath of the 2017 natural disaster, which devastated the island.

Puerto Rico has 2/3 the population of Denmark. They’d completely overwhelm the Danish.

Dishonest articles like this make me sick. Trump gave PR massive aid. They ARE corrupt. The unions left the humanitarian aid to bake in the sun as part of a shake down.

It would be nice to read one positive aritical about our great President Donald J Trump. how many of these leftwing nutjobs have sacrificed anything for the good of our Country.our President is doing what our forefathers invisioned was that citizens that had been secsesfull in life to serve our country. If the truth is ever told President Donald J Trump has sacrificed more than maybe any other President. The only other President that I can think of is George Washington that has given up so much to serve our Country.I for one a poor country boy appreciate what our President is doing for all of us.if a uneducated 53 year old can see this why can’t more people recognize what any fool should be able to see.politics has been a passion of mine sence I was a teenager and got to vote for Reagan when I just turned 18 in 1984 ,and I’ve never witnessed such a leader as President Donald J Trump...

I for one wouldn’t like China or even Russia buying Puerto Rico and parking their missels there or building an military attack planes base in our own back yard.

“...made the incorrect claim the island received $92 billion...”

Without stating the “correct” value? I’m more inclined to believe POTUS than some vague assertion by The Hill. Even if the value is wrong, they received huge amounts of aid and squandered it. They had ports full of water and aid while still complaining we weren’t doing enough.

Former White House official? Obama’s dog walker? Who no longer has a job because Trump doesn’t have a dog.
