Mississippi professor, who went to Georgetown Prep with Brett Kavanaugh, sues HuffPost

A Mississippi man is suing HuffPost on defamation allegations because of an article the news website published last year accusing the man of helping to supply drugs to fellow students at Georgetown Preparatory School while U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was a student there.

Derrick Evans, a professor and community advocate, filed the lawsuit Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Gulfport, Mississippi, against HuffPost and the author of the article, Ashley Feinberg, the Mississippi Clarion Ledger reported.

The lawsuit claims Feinberg and HuffPost repeatedly defamed Evans and Douglas Kennedy, a classmate of Evans and Kavanaugh, by stating that they helped purchase and supply cocaine at the elite private school.

The article also stated that the drugs may have resulted in the death of David Kennedy in 1984, Douglas’ brother and the son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, according to the Clarion Leger

Given what Gaytown...er...Georgetown has become, is anyone foolish enough to pay bucks for their chilluns to attend Georgetown Prep now?

Sadly, I know the answer.

If the story was posted on Facebook, he also needs the ability to sue Facebook for content.

Exactly. Facebook, Google, etc., are talking out of both sides of their mouths. On the one hand, they say they should be immune from defamation suits because they're not responsible for what is posted on their sites. On the flip side, they censor content they don't like, and claim that they can do so because they are a private entity.

Derrick Evans is African-American. Funny how that doesn’t show up in either the article or via a picture of him. Wouldn’t want to upset the ‘Kavanaugh is racist’ paradigm now would we?

Excellent.

The smear job against Kavanaugh was even worse than that against Trump. And ALL of the media was in on it.

Won’t go anywhere. Some Lefty judge will pass a camel through the eye of a needle w/ some tortured logic.

If the Convington kids & Zimmerman (they edited the phone call & were busted doing so) weren’t allowed Justice...

Kavenaugh wasn't in the same year as the Kennedy kids.

Douglas was two years younger than Bret Kavanaugh.

David was all of ten years older and went to another school.

Evans, who is African American, obtained a full academic scholarship to Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, Maryland, in 1982. He was one of the only black students at Georgetown Prep at the time.

After earning bachelors and masters degrees from Boston College, Evans became a history professor and lecturer on American social history and the civil rights movement. In 1992, he was awarded Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges’ Certificate of Distinction in Teaching.

In 2005, in the direct wake of Hurricane Katrina, Evans co-founded the Gulf Coast Fund for Community Renewal and Ecological Health, which has directed over $5 million in critical funding to groups in coastal Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas and Florida, according to his lawsuit.

David Kennedy went to high school in Concord Massachusetts. He was in a rehabilitation clinic in the mid west until days before his death in FL where the prescription drugs were issued to his grandmother. Brett had nothing to do with this.
