This is a great movie. I discovered it by accident in my 20s and it was very powerful. And Mark Steyn is right, the final scene is haunting and not something I’ve ever forgotten.
Does anyone know why Mark seemed to be missing for awhile recently?

This is misleading. Does anyone think that the newspaper obituaries were filled with 47 year olds dropping dead? The average(!) includes all the infant deaths and children who died from TB and smallpox.
