Nope... an elected Sheriff is the most powerful law enforcement officer in that county. And if they’re from the largest county(population wise), which I’m thinking the Charlotte-Mecklenburg county may be, they’re considered the High Sheriff of the State. Meaning, they have to do some really crazy sh*t before they can be touched.
Wrong. Supremacy clause. The Feds for example the FBI trump the state including sheriffs with respect to federal laws.
