Blue and White leader Yair Lapid addressed US plans for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, emphasizing that it's important the US "stay out of" the upcoming Israeli election.

"Of course we expect the American administration to stay out of our elections, the same way the Americans expect us to stay away from their elections," Lapid told i24NEWS in an interview aired Wednesday.

"It's just the civil way of treating politics,"

Is he calling the Obama and Clinton administrations uncivil? I don't recall any complaints from the Left at that time.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a foreign leader saying who they like in an election.

Everyone made it known they didn’t want Trump.

Didn’t seem to matter.

Trump is Israel’s best friend in a long time and that’s a GOOD thing.

I know we give them a lot of $$ but the return on investment in spying on Iran and their anti missile tech is worth it

". . . emphasizing that it's important the US "stay out of" the upcoming Israeli election."

Silly Israeli goose bitching about the gander doing what the goose does.

Israel doesn't stay out of our elections and the day the polls close for one election AIPAC and all the other political groups that put our relations with Israel above all else start fund raising for the next one. Perhaps Lapid could lead by example and get all the Israeli lobbyists the Hell out of US politics before emphasizing anything about our behavior.

He needs to cite Bill Clinton and Obama as interlopers since both Democrats Presidents interfered in Israeli elections.

You mean, US citizens cannot lobby the US government on behalf of Israel, or form PACs like AIPAC? And let’s suppose that they fund raise in order to put US relations with Israel above all else? Legislators get lobbied by lobbyists representing all sorts of interests, both foreign and domestic, and hopefully they have the integrity and judgment to balance those lobbyists’ promises, threats and arguments against the interests of their respective districts, states and the country at large. If they do not, the fault is with the legislator, not the lobbyist, who is merely doing his job. Same thing occurs in Israel, and the same answer applies to our legislators. It’s how the world works.

Don't be a dumbazz, it's clear what I mean.

The guy is a loud mouthed hypocrite and the US isn't doing anything that hasn't been par for the course for fifty years just like they do.

It’s clear what you mean, and it’s clear that you’re wrong. AIPAC is not an Israeli organization. It’s an American citizens’ group concerned with Israel, but subject to the laws of the United States, including disclosure and finance limitations.

I draw the line with foreign governments or foreign nationals trying to influence elections directly, which is what the Clintons and the Obamas did. And yes, Lapid is a loud-mouthed hypocrite, who would sell his country for the chance to be at its helm as he takes it over the falls or onto the rocks.

Netanyahu is a US citizen, too. How many of the leaders of AIPAC and other groups are people with dual citizenship?

You're blowin' smoke cause you wanna stomp your feet, have a little tantrum, and spout some of your talking points but it's wasted on me cause I don't give a damn whether you or anyone else agrees with me.

The guy who complained about the US messing in the Israeli election is a hypocrite blowhard who thinks what's good for the goose is forbidden to the gander. Period.

Very disingenuous article. If you look at the actual interview, the reporter is asking him if he’s worried about the close relationship between Bibi and Trump. Lapid says no and explains why then says what’s quoted.

I hate it when articles quote people responding to a question and don’t provide context by stating the question.

Big deal. He’s also a head of state, so his citizenship in any other country is now a moot point. I’m also a US citizen.

How many of the leaders of AIPAC and other groups are people with dual citizenship?

Irrelevant. When Congress passes a law forbidding people with dual citizenship from participating in US politics, you’ll have a point. Otherwise, you’re confusing your personal prejudices with law. In other words, stomping your feet and having a little tantrum as you blow smoke.

“The guy who complained about the US messing in the Israeli election is a hypocrite blowhard who thinks what’s good for the goose is forbidden to the gander. Period.”

Absolutely. Agreed. Or am I allowed to agree, either. I have dual citizenship. So does Rahm Emanuel. Wooooooo!

If a country allows dual citizenship bitching about either of the countries they allow citizenship in getting involved in politics is just stupid.

Netanyahu is definitely not a US citizen, at least not now. Israeli law for MKs.
