ANALYSIS: Iran escalates stand-off, Israel could soon face war

Iran is slowly taking off its gloves and has dropped its mask in the widening confrontation with Western countries and Israel.

After the United Kingdom (UK) seized an Iranian tanker with oil bound for Syria on July 4, the Iranians embarked on a piracy campaign against British and other vessels in the Persian Gulf.

The tanker, Grace 1, was carrying 2.1 million barrels of oil when it was detained by British Marines and will stay in Gibraltar for another month, a court in the British colony decided last Friday.

Iran called the British action an “act of piracy” and again threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz which is the world’s single most important oil passageway.

Last week, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) made good on its promise to seize British ships sailing through the Strait of Hormuz and on Thursday committed its first act of piracy when it forced the small Panamanian-flagged United Arab Emirates tanker Riah into Iranian territorial waters.

Iran claimed the Riah was smuggling fuel.

That incident followed an earlier attempt to seize the British tanker Heritage on July 11 when a Royal Navy warship foiled an attempt by IRGC speedboats to block the passage of the ship through the Strait of Hormuz.

The next question is, can the US stay out and support the UK and Israel from the sidelines, or must it join in? Superpower, allies, free flow of oil and all that.

Destroy the Iranian Navy and this all goes away. Quick. Easy.

Keep increasing sanctions. Iran can’t afford the strait to be closed any more than SA. Keeps us out of it. Trump is patiently working this. And, it’s working. We have oil here... harder to refine, but better than sending sons, daughters and weapons.
Let’s sit one out, for a change.

They pushed Trump and nothing happened ... thus Iran will keep this up until some country exercises force against them. They want to drive up the price of oil.

Amen. Foment ethnic troubles in Iran, too. Support the secession of the Akhwazi Arabs and the Balluchis, and Kurdistan as well. It’s how the Soviet Union and the UK totally Fd up the subcontinent and the ME. The same tools might well improve matters in Iran.

The UK, however, will not take this lying down. One thing that will tick the British Lion off is an assault on their shipping. They can’t let it slide.

The Iranians continue this sort of nonsense, I don’t know how we can’t act against them in some way.

Remember, the Iranians have a history of taking hostages...state sponsored kidnapping.

Let the British handle that. If they get embroiled in a larger conflict, the US can step in.

They let it slide when their own government locks Tommy Robinson up for “causing Muslims anxiety” though. It seems there are no “lions”, only a small insignificant isle of Merkels.

The Brits do not have the military to do much anymore. Great soldiers and sailors, just not enough of them. A sad bi-product of a government caught up in the lie of EU collective defense and trying to meet all their welfare obligations.

If the Brits drop two or three eggs on Kharg Island the Persians will have $$ problems beyond repair, methinks.

Hopefully so. But it’s a long reach for Israel to get to Iran and the UK barely has anything more than firecrackers to fight with, since ‘peace’ broke out in the 1990s. You know, ‘The end of History’ and all that crap that they promised.

If the UK wants in, well they are the euro now. France will freeze without iranian pipelines, we will not.
Pleas, I repeat, let’s just sit one stinkin conflict, for a change.
Trump is the only Prez with enough spine to do so.

Sounds like a beef between the UK and Iran. The UK has 33,840 active personnel in the Royal Air Force, and 832 operational aircraft; and 86 ships, 174 aircraft and 33,280 personnel in the Royal Navy. I think they can handle this just fine without us.

Ezekiel 38. The Rapture will destroy America by taking away the best and brightest. America will become a third world country unable to support Israel. Iran, Turkey and Russia will attack Israel and be destroyed supernaturally by God.
