ELYRIA — The law firms that represented Gibson’s Bakery and its owners in a lawsuit against Oberlin College have been awarded approximately $6.5 million in attorney fees by Lorain County [Ohio] Common Pleas Judge John Miraldi.

The amount is on top of the $25 million in compensatory and punitive damages Oberlin College has been ordered to pay the bakery and its owners, who won a lawsuit against the college last month.

Nice to see Oberlin College get burned for about $31.5 million in this case. Then add in about another $8.5 million for their own attorneys' fees and costs, and it all adds up to about $40,000,000.

But, the clowns that run that dump and orchestrated this mess probably will get to continue on drawing a salary in spite of the mess. I wonder what their endowments are?

And it is unlikely Oberlin’s liability insurance will cover a dime. Heh, heh.

"I wonder what their endowments are?"

Something you might need eye bleach for if seen.

I’ve read that Oberlin’s endowment is up near $1B.

The only way to get some measure of control over the lunacy occurring on our college campuses is to enforce some accountability.

The college administration is a major component driving the crazy so can’t expect help from them and our politicians are actively obstructing accountability and enabling the insanity.

The legal system is our only hope and winning a few law suit with multi million dollar damages in each is about the only option we have of curbing the excesses of the campus revolutionaries.

Nice to academia having to factor in the same liability litigation risks to their schools that they have helped foist on the rest of us

They have enough to cover it via endowments, but it has to sting badly.

This needs to happen repeatedly throughout the country. There are too many people representing institutions (academia and media primarily) with a social justice hair trigger who never wait for the facts before they assume some kind of horrific lynching over any feigned or manufactured slight. The insults, lies, and innuendo they cast upon others should have repercussions like this.

Combine this with the Covington H.S. and smart attorneys around the country will be ready to pounce on this stuff. This is why libel laws exist and I hope the Gibson’s enjoy a wonderful retirement thanks to three thieves and the merry band of social justice idiots.

The facts in this case were very clear and bore no resemblance to the accusations.

One has to conclude their retirement plans are a bit shaky.
