...“suicide module” could easily be put into these drones, that once they have been “locked on” ... they release a missile to the locking site.

That's called a HARM (Highspeed Anti Radiation Missile), it's been in the inventory in one version or another for around 50 years and I'd bet you a cold beer that the next drone launched around that area will either have a couple hangin'...or some "little friends" hangin' around who do.

I don't know - but where ever the drone was, we need to keep them OUT of that region from here on out. We have spy planes that can read a driver's license from space... let's NOT taunt these idiots. They WANT a war with us and so do others in the ME who have axes to grind with Iran and those in China and Europe who want us to protect shipping lanes...for their benefit.

And it's crap.

NOT OUR JOB, NOT OUR TREASURE NOT OUR BLOOD THIS TIME.

We have oil = we worked to become energy independent and Iran's sinking ships in the Straights IS NOT OUR PROBLEM.

(WE CAN BE OPEN TO OTHER COUNTRIES BEGGING US TO ASSIST THEM - BUT WE'RE NOT OUT IN THE LEAD. NO MORE PAYING OFF OUR POLITICIANS WITH SPEECH MONEY OR PARTY MONEY, OR FAWNING OVER STATE DEPARTMENT EGOMANIACS.

Trump will only involve us in a war if the people of the United States are at risk. Trump's not some needy lightweight like John Kerry... Trump doesn't need his butt kissed.

Do not take counsel of your fears

Trump has done damage far out of proportion to the dowining of a drone

The drone was flying the same airspace as international airliners and such. They had no right to shoot it down.

That said, I say keep flying drones in that airspace - they cost far, far less than the missiles the Iranians will shoot at them and we need not treat a drone shootdown as an act of war. (The ‘crunch all you want, we’ll make more’ strategy.) We also *do* have a national interest in keeping an eye on Iran.

Also, we are *not* yet energy independent of the Middle East.

They have the power to put the world economy into chaos.Unleash the Navy and/or the Air Force on them...but not the Army or Marines.

upon launch detection

Actually, you launch against detections of fire-control radar - it teaches them to keep their heads down.

They’re brave little bantams, aren’t they? They get a lucky hit and suddenly they’re all kind of big and tough.

Yep, anything Iran has was flat-out given to them. They wouldn’t have electricity if it weren’t for imported contractors.

They admitted shooting it down the other day. They said it was over their country, contrary to our Pentagon.

Iran will only survive by destroying Israel and the US. They are at war with us already or did you ignore the memo.

Taking advice from John Kerry probably isn’t wise.

What? If Iran attacked Israel it would be ‘game over’ for Iran. What are you talking about?

I feel much the same way, but admit that I still feel we owe them big time for their actions in late 1979. They have never paid that debt in full.

I guess I feel the same way about the USS Pueblo and North Korea. I still feel like we owe them payback.

But all in all, I am not advocating for military action on that basis. If it ever does happen, I will view it as a positive side effect.

Trump: Our coalition of Middle East nations and European partners are announcing a complete supply embargo on Iran. No goods will enter or leave Iran beginning immediately.

“...Russia doesn’t want a neutral of pro-Western regime in Iran.”

Russia still hasn’t come fully awake to the nature of the “if ya can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” reality that initiated when The Wall came down in Berlin.

Like it or lump it; Russia is more “western” than they think, and can only benefit by becoming even more so, and assimilating as a nation into that identity, and the economic trappings associated with it. Russia staving off “the west” is only self-harm on a national level. They just can’t admit it.
