A student accused of opening fire at a Colorado school reportedly told investigators that he targeted peers who made fun of him for his gender identity, court documents show.
Alec McKinney, 16, and Devon Erickson, 18, allegedly decided to carry out the shooting after exchanging messages on social media the day before the May 7 attack at STEM School Highlands Ranch near Denver, the documents show.
The shooting resulted in the death of 18-year-old Kendrick Ray Castillo; eight others were injured.
The police records, which were unsealed Thursday, show McKinney telling officers in an interview that he intended to “shoot and kill” kids who made fun of him, “hated him” and called him “disgusting” and other names for being transgender.
McKinney, who was born female, said he identifies as male and was beginning to transition.
He wanted “the kids at the school to experience bad things” and “suffer from trauma like he had to in his life,” court documents show.
McKinney reportedly reached out to Erickson on Snapchat the night before the shooting about carrying out the plan, but McKinney told investigators that he’d been planning the shooting for weeks.
McKinney reportedly told Erickson that he was “super suicidal” and that he wanted to get revenge on “a lot of people,” adding that he was thinking about killing his mom and siblings, court documents show.
He said McKinney threatened to kill him and other students if he told anyone about the plan.
Both teenagers reportedly told police that they broke into a gun safe at Erickson's home before walking to the school with a guitar case and backpack concealing the firearms, according to the affidavit. Erickson reportedly took the two handguns used in the shooting from his parents, a law enforcement source told CNN, adding that both guns were purchased legally.
Erickson told law enforcement officials that the two used cocaine in his basement before going back to school. According to the affidavit, they used the middle school entrance because, they said, they knew they would be able to get the guns into the school.
Both students face criminal charges, including first-degree murder. McKinney has been charged as an adult, according to the Denver Post.

Of course , nowadays, we aren’t allowed to talk of the mental problems of someone who thinks they are a girl trapped in a boy’s body and all that. We are compelled to say that such person is normal.

Obviously more federal legislation is required. This is nothing that another federal law can’t fix. How about we pass an “Equality Act”? That’s the ticket!
Five decades ago Mom’s taught us “Sticks and stones may break my bones, etc.” That usually worked, but sometimes you had to beat the bullies up.
Then a couple of decades ago, fighting “bullying” became all the rage and all sorts of intervention techniques were taught. Not much success.
Then a decade ago online bullying started and got bad.
Then a half decade ago we began giving trannies everything they wanted thinking that acceptance, compassion and tolerance would make them happy (as well as some key operations and hormones).
Now the messed-up trannies are shooting up our schools.
What a mess. Who ever would have guessed people with messed-up heads would go berserk?
If the appropriate response when someone harassed you was to murder them, there would be no school kids alive. This kid is a mentally ill, unstable nitwit. Because ALL LIBs are lunatics, they want this type of mentally defective person to roam society, acting on their impulses. What a pathetic state of affairs.

She would not have even considered her actions if they all, on every conceivable media, had not encouraged her. According to them, this is just an extension of a black man shooting a kluxer.

And note the press tries to spin this as an “understandable” (and maybe justifiable reason for) shooting.

One comment stayed with me (I think from a local news site).
A man had interviewed and hired many people and of the ones who were 1)obviously yearning for being the other sex or 2)now actually transgendered (example of 1 are women who dressed entirely as men and had brush cut hair), ALL of them ended up with mental illness problems at work and a handful left due to mental crisis breakdowns.
Since that comment I noticed that in so many stories and in anecdotal ones from acquaintances that I am sure he was right. Mentally ill.
Ask how many of the LGBTQ or trans shooters are on drugs from pscyhiatrists? Maybe 100%?
