diGenova and Toensing Discuss Scope Memos, Rosenstein and Joe Biden…

Joe diGenova has a great deal of confidence in AG William Barr. After the interview last night (w/ Hannity) where President Trump outlined the lack of investigative information from the DOJ and FBI to the executive office of the president, I’m not sure that confidence is deserved.

In this interview with Lou Dobbs, diGenova and Victoria Toensing discuss the currently suppressed Rosenstein scope memos issued to allow Weissmann and Mueller to expand their targeting of Trump; while simultaneously retaining optimism toward Bill Barr.

Additionally, both Toensing and diGenova discuss presidential candidate Joe Biden.

The AG should not be delivering minute-by-minute information to the office of the president. In an investigation, the DOJ should be nearly silent while conducting the investigation.

President Trump should receive briefings at significant junctures in the case, perhaps, but to involve the presidency too closely politicizes the case in a way that diminishes its legitimacy (exactly what Obozo did). The public needs to wait until findings are ready, backed up with a lot of evidence.

There is a huge political dimension to this case already. To further politicize it would simply remove any chance that neutral or persuadable third parties will not accept any legitimate outcome.

Hunter Biden’s dealings in Ukraine emerge as 2020 issue for Joe Biden

May 15, 2019 - Fox News

GIULIANI: (continues) It’s a case that is crying out to be investigated.

If it doesn’t get investigated, we just don’t have equal justice in this country.

Biden’s son took millions of dollars out of the Ukraine, and over a billion dollars out of China.

Well, Joe Biden was vice president, was really directing the relief for Ukraine, the loan guarantees, well over a billion dollars of loan guarantees.

His son then got under investigation, for good reason.

He was working for the most corrupt company in the Ukraine [Burisma].

He was working for a Ukrainian oligarch who was being protected by Putin.

The same Putin that we have been hearing about for all this time, right?

Imagine that.

HANNITY: Let me —

GIULIANI [abruptly interrupting]: Putin’s friend was paying Joe's son three, four, five, possibly more, millions of dollars.

And he got under investigation.

And Joe bragged two years later that he got the prosecutor general fired.

He just left out of it that the prosecutor general was investigating his son and his son’s crooked boss [Putin's friend].

And then afterwards, the case disappeared.

-SNIP-

All right. Busy news night. We continue.

Thank you, Mr. Mayor.

SEAN HANNITY: Joe Biden literally leveraged a billion taxpayer dollars, demanding in six hours, that a prosecutor investigating his own son gets fired as a result of his connections to this energy company.

Here’s the tape.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BIDEN: We’re not going to give you the billion dollars.

They said, you’ve got no authority.

You’re not the president.

The president — I said, call him.

I said I’m telling you.

You are not getting a billion dollars.

I said, you are not getting the billion.

I’m going to be leaving here, I think it was six hours.

Look, I said [I'm] leaving [in] six hours, if the prosecutor is not fired, you are not getting the money.

Well, son of a (EXPLETIVE DELETED), he got fired.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Note that on
Tuesday, his first full day in office, DAG Jeff Rosen, acted to prevent Paul Manafort from being forced into solitary confinement at the notorious NY state prison Rikers Island. He obviously had the full support of Barr. Rosen seems to be the conservative bulldog counter to Mueller’s bullydog Weissman. I say, give them a chance. They’re starting out right.

I agree with your comments overall but who are these supposed neutral and persuadable third parties? The country is sharply polarized and there are not many people left in the middle who can be “converted” by facts anymore.

From The Daily Caller, May 5, 2019

* Hunter Biden was appointed to the board of directors of a Ukranian company [Burisma] as part of an effort to recruit well-connected Americans while the company was under investigation, according to The New York Times.

* Then-Vice President Joe Biden played a role in pressuring Ukraine to oust the country’s top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, who was investigating the company, Burisma.

* Shokin’s successor initially ended the investigation into Burisma, but decided in March 2019 to reopen it.

Mykola Zlochevsky

Same article, Daily Caller, May 5, 2019

Burisma is a natural gas exploration and production company owned by Mykola Zlochevsky, a cabinet member of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich. [Viktor Yanukovich was Putin’s stooge in the Ukraine -ETL].

Yanukovich was removed from his position in February 2014.

He [Yanukovich] currently lives in exile in Russia and is wanted by Ukraine for high treason.

Zlochevsky later fled the country in late-2014 as Ukrainian prosecutors launched investigations into his time in public office as well as his private businesses.”

Viktor Yanukovych vs Viktor Yushchenko

In 2004, as President Kuchma's term came to an end, [Viktor] Yushchenko announced his candidacy for president as an independent.

His major rival was Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych. ..."

The campaign was often bitter and violent.

Yushchenko became seriously ill in early September 2004.

He was flown to Vienna’s Rudolfinerhaus clinic for treatment and diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, accompanied by interstitial edematous changes, due to a serious viral infection and chemical substances that are not normally found in food products.

Yushchenko claimed that he had been poisoned by government agents.

After the illness, his face was greatly disfigured: jaundiced, bloated, and pockmarked.

British toxicologist Professor John Henry of St Mary’s Hospital in London declared the changes in Yushchenko’s face were due to chloracne, which results from dioxin poisoning.[17]

Dutch toxicologist Bram Brouwer also stated his changes in appearance were the result of chloracne, and found dioxin levels in Yushchenko’s blood 6,000 times above normal.[18]

On December 11, Dr. Michael Zimpfer of the Rudolfinerhaus clinic declared that Yushchenko had ingested TCDD dioxin and had 1,000 times the usual concentration in his body.[19]

**************

Someone in the DOJ needed to step in and stop this. Treating Manafort this way has nothing to do with justice. It was all about political punishment.

Why would Manafort be sent to a state prison if he was convicted on Federal charges? If I recall correctly, there is a Federal prison in Allentown, Pennsylvania, not far from NYC.

Is there evidence that his appearance returned to normal at any time? This was so appalling when it happened.

If we assume there are no persuadable people, we will surely find that there are none. If we assume there are some such people, in my experience we will find that they exist quietly, watching for information with which to make up their own minds.

Absent informed debate, they will often side with whichever faction is loudest. It takes convincing to get a person to buck the prevalent trends.

Why would Manafort be sent to a state prison

Because they hate him, they own the system and they want him dead. Anyone who knows Rikers island knows he will die in there.
