Nearly every damned thing one touches nowadays is made in China.
There are some well made items, I will admit, but for the most part, it is absolute crap and I want no part of it.
Truth be told, I want no part of anything made in a foreign country, but try to live a half-decent life when you can't find a thing you need...not what you WANT, but what you NEED, that isn't made in one shirt-hole or another.
We have become addicted to the crap for the simple reason that it was cheaper.
We're paying full price, now...as I thought we would, sooner or later.
And we cannot lay the blame on just Wal-mart.
Look closely and you'll find it in every store in town.
Even the "up-scale" ones that once prided themselves on the "Made in America" label.
Now, they just hide the "Made in China" label better and charge more.
Oh I know.
I don’t mean to just blame Walmart.
But I will say, they are are as involved with selling out America, as anyone.
I think, anyway.
America has shifted far, far too much production to China.
For real.
Thats entirely up to the American importer. China makes what they are contracted to make - if the importer wants to skate by with cheap crap, then thats what the Chinese will make for them. If the importer wants super high quality, China can do that now, too.
If the big stores are full of cheap crap it is because that is all their research departments are telling them Americans are willing to pay for.
When you look at quality, the loss of industry, the dead cities and towns and the social costs was it really cheaper. The 3-4% you saved came at a huge cost.
You know what else we don’t make in this country anymore?
Americans.
